"Excitement" at video poker isn't in my top ten of reasons I play. Excitement usually is a euphemism for volatility (or variance). And this game has a MUCH higher variance than the regular version of the same game.DSTP adds about 0.5% in EV to whatever the base game is --- with no changes in strategy required. So this game at some casinos is the best game available. It is often "hidden" in All Star Poker machines --- or the newer varieties of All Star --- so it takes more searching to find. But an extra 0.5% is worth searching for! That can often be the difference between whether a given casino has a playable game or not --- where I define "playable" as over 100%, including the game, slot club, promotions, comps, etc.Bob

When you say "hidden" in All star Poker what do you mean exactly? Because I have seen very obvious and BLATANT Double Super Times Pays games with that exact title (DSTP) emblazoned on the game's forefront.......at least in AC there are a lot of them as their own game, as well as within the Allstar Menus.

As a matter of fact Bob, there are some spin poker games hidden at Mohegan Sun and All Star games that offer 800 for 1 with only a single coin bet even a nickel. Unfortunately, the paytables aren't over 100%, but a nice alternative for the really low budget player.

I believe he's refering to the All-Star Poker machines I've been seeing that let you play Triple Play, Super Times Pay, Double Super Times Pay, Spin Poker and other games on the same machine.

Yes sometimes you see the name of a game emblazoned on the machine. Sometimes the name of the games change over time. And I've seen All Star machines (or perhaps All Star II), where you always see "All Star" in front and to find out the exact mix of games included, you have to get really close and check it out.Bob

I've only found such an example at the South Point, 8-5 Bonus Poker and 9-6 Double Double Bonus which is not playable in its base game becomes a playable game with DSTP.
Otherwise I would say 90%+ of the casinos offer an inferior paytable of the common games when the STP or DSTP gimmick is available, to make the 0.5% it adds to the ER more irrelevant than it is a benefit.

Most casinos don't have good pay schedules on these machines. But some do. And that's why I check.Bob

Other than South Point, the only other Double Super Times Pay game I have seen at full pay is at Horseshoe Hammond, but at $50 per tier credit. :(
VPFree2 says Harrah's Southern California (Rincon) has full pay DSTP as well. Those are the only places in the country that I'm personally aware of. I've found several more places nationwide that offer 8/6 Bonus Deluxe w/DSTP which is ALMOST 99% (98.99%), including for quarters at Aria and M Resort. The only place I've seen offer 9/6 is this website. :(
