Losing Streaks
General question for the vp casino player. How many times have you won based on W2G forms given to you over a playing session only to show a huge loss for the play overall? It has become more the norm for me lately. I play various games of VP including DDB, TDB and have hit but not the monster hits like the 4 A with low card or Royal. $5 or $10 game. Hooked lately on Deal/Draw, start off at $1 and move up to the $5 game. That one eats me alive but I can't seem to resist the dealt Royal payout. Only hit it one time at a .25 game in the past year. Maybe I should take a break? Comments? Phone number for GA??

i do not think the number of tax forms you receive makes any difference at all, especially at the dollar level you are playing. it does not take much to get a tax form at $5 and $10. the essential questions you are asking are these; -has the cost of playing VP gone up?-can you have a winning session w/o getting premium wining hands? these are subjects that have been widely debated and without speaking on behalf of the forum, the only universally agreed upon answer seems to be that reduced paytables have had a definite impact on results. i/m/o, the cost of playing has indeed gone up and one absolutely needs some premium wins to break even or win.

I was on a losing streak before I hit my first royal. That brought me back to about breakeven.

Agreed. I feel the same way about the winning precentages at the vp games having been trimmed. To what extent I don't know, they were heavily touted in LV as being 99.99 or even higher at various areas of the casino's. Those I haven't seen anywhere in a long time. I don't play 100% perfect, but test myself here on the vp site and am in the 95% range. Thank you for your valuable insight.

This topic has been discussed in length on this forum with players expressing an assortment of diverse theories. Good and bad streaks are a normal part of the game. However, I believe reduced pay tables are largely to blame for the overall decline in returns. When playing a negative expectation game there are only two ways to reduce your loses, bet less or play slower. I play a lot of video poker, so I choose the first option. Winning long term at video poker is more about playing the right games and money management than card strategy. For that reason there is no right strategy for everyone. If you think about this for a while, you will find a strategy that fits your style of play and gives you what you want from the game.

What I have noticed is that the premium hands still come but there nothing in between.

Once again, more evidence to add to the pile that TODAY's video poker scene is far far less profitable, more rife with losing players and losing scenarios than ever before........Since we all agree that casinos are NOT "cheating" or "rigging", the only explanation for the extreme "uhn" profitability on games that still are in the 97 to 99 % range is that the WAY the machines process results, via the super super fast speeds, somehow lends itself to lots more dud or non-paying hands in between the few big "hits" or winners we still can receive. This is now the NORM, it is not some simple blip in the variance radar screen.I learned a lot from my last AC trip (MArch 4 thru 7) that I will share soon......

Keep in mind that you're playing some of the highest volatile games - DDB and especially TDB. Playing less volatile games might help you reduce some of the streaks.

He's also playing deal/draw where over 1% of the game's payback is devoted to a DEALT Royal.

Most recreational players love high volatility games because they see the big jackpot and don't think about what happens in between. If you find a less volatile game that you like, you will have a much better time managing your money. That's why I play Deuces Wild. It's exciting, has a decent non royal jackpot and it's volatility is much less than DDB or quirky multiplier games. I find those games a feast or famine experience that's depressing most of the time.
