Is it Worth Going to AC?
Sweet C and I thinking about a trip to Washington DC and Philadelphia. We've talked about going to AC to see the Boardwalk, Borgata, etc. in the past. Is it worth spending an extra day/stay to make the trip to AC to see it and play the casinos?

would suggest you plan your trip when the weather is a little warmer. the boardwalk is always fun to walk, during daylight hours. lots to look at. i am always impressed by the shear number and variety of people; families, handicaped, every ethic group etc, great place to peiple watch. i/m/o, i would concentrate my play at borgota, it is the class of all the casinos.

And Borgota has the lowest add on fees, there is a post started about this in the Atlantic City forum section.

for anyone who has never been to borgota, they have something i have never seen at any other casino, especially if you are with a non gambling wife (partner, friend). on the main floor, there is a large glass room, with a snack bar, computer terminals, lounge chairs, tables that gives a view of the gambling space. it is secure and quiet and located next to the elevators to your room. most casinos have no place to sit down, get away from the action and still see what is going on. my wife loves this space, can do some work, talk on the phone and use the computer, see what is going on, without being in the midst of the hustle and bustle.

AC is worth spending at least a day/stay to check it out. We have been 4 times over the last couple of years and have found the gambling overall to our liking. I do not play DW games that much so do not know how to steer you in that direction. I know at Bally's on the boardwalk they have a bank of progressive 8/5 bonus poker quarter triple play machines that we have done well on.
We have been in May twice and once each in Sept. and October and found the weather terrific each time. From what I have heard if you go during the Summer months it gets rather crowded especially on the weekends. We usually stay at Caesar's but regardless of where you stay try to make time to take a stroll on the boardwalk. It gives AC its own vibe and makes it unique as far as being a gambling destination.

Depends on your personal preferences. There is a lot to see and do in the mid-Atlantic region. We have considered a trip to AC to relive my wife's childhood memories but could care less about visiting a casino which we could do anytime. Too many other worthwhile ways to spend our time.

I sound like a tour guide here, but if you guys make your way to Ct., there is tons of good stuff to do within 1/2 hour of both casinos. Even winery tours and of course Mystic Seaport. Late spring, summer, or early fall is the best. And of course to meet up with one or more of the posters here like me.

May is the best time, if you can swing it, especially the two and a half weeks BEFORE memorial day weekend, which officially kicks off the summer "busy" season.....if you manage to visit in the middle of May on a weekend, you will get the benefit of very nice mild weather, the boardwalk businesses being freshly opened (the pizza is BEST this time of year because all the supplies are fresh/newly bought), and the crowds not quite at full blast. Best of all worlds essentially....If you HAVE to visit during the summer prime months (july & august) try and swing it during the middle of the week....you will see lots o fpeople but it will not be overwhelming, plus at night the summer air on the beach is awesome. But truth be told, ANYtime in the summer in AC is a nice experience, unless it is excessively HUMID......I recommend journeying from Philly to AC, it is a straight shot and easy drive from Philly to AC and while in philly you can also compare the several casinos in the city with what you will see in AC......my opinion of the philly casinos is, unless you happen to LIVE within a few blocks of them, they are not worth more than an occasional visit .... lousy games, lousy paytables, etc. Not that AC video poker is great, but its a lot better than philly.Good luck !!
