Post by Casino Knight »

For those able to get to the Fort, the 8/5 Double Bonus Progressive at the bar is over $9K

Video Poker for Winners still reports this as a 97% game even with the Royal Flush being 9000, Full House being 40, Flush being 25, and Straights being 20.

Its nice to get a double royal, but the risk of ruin is so high.

Yeah, 8/5 Double Bonus is a 94.18% base. They can't even give free booze in Arizona for playing horrible games like that right?

Shutters High Limit $1-$2-$5 VP Will give you free booze all night long.

The Gila River crowd also will give you drink coupons.

As for the crap paytable, you pays your money and takes your chances.

[/QUOTE]huh?   Playing a 94% travesty of a VP game, at $1 and up denom, is definitely NOT an example of "TAKING your chances"....that's an example of playing Russian Roulette all by yourself while you have the flu.....totally pointless self destructiveness of bankroll(s)......in such an extreme case of awful return% and stark risk of ruination, no way would I even accept the "But it's all in the name of fun argument"......that's just plain DUMB, Dumber and DUMBER-er-er......er er er er  ad infinitum......But it explains why they DO IN FACT give free booze as you claim.....people HAVE to be drunk, drunker, and drunker-er-er to even attempt to play such a terrible game, plus the fact that the jackpot SOMEHOW has climbed to $9000+ would make me extremely suspicious concerning the machine(s) integrity ..... only drunken fools would plop money into such a thing.      I mean, $9 grand.....?????  how many hands is that since the last Royal when the jackpot turned over???    you should be able to easily determine that by watching the meter and determining how many hands/credits it takes to advance the progressive each unit, and then extrapolate from there........assuming a reasonable coin in requirement  to advance the progressive meter by $1, I will make a totally W(ild).A(rse).G(uess).  and say that it has been well beyond Half a million hands since the last royal was hit, and I am being optimistic & generous I think......with a expected royal every 44K hands, this is a monumental "dry spell" whatever the actual settings are......edited to postulate:  my post broaches a subject I cannot recall the forum discussing anytime in the past year at least.....the subject being:  "How much does it typically take to advance a typical progressive jackpot meter these days?"  etc etc       I do not have any depth of knowledge on the norms of this topic, I only know what I have observed in AC and elsewhere the past several years.......

As a note of explanation.
1. The Fort is not part of the Gila River Indian Community.
2. The Free Bar Booze is available at the Shutters Bar located inside Wild Horse Pass, which is owned by the Gila River Indian Community.
3. As to why the bar top 8/5 DB is at $9k, I've observed that most of the folks at the pay for booze bar are there to drink. Very few play full coin VP, usually $1 a hand on VP but most play Keno while watching a sporting event.
4. While a buck royal won't trigger a jackpot reset, the meter keeps slowing clicking away. Thus the high amount.
5. As the casino offers full pay DDB & TDB, I don't bother with the bar top progressives, and noticed the sign on the way out the door.
6. As an aside, while waiting for a hand pay Sunday, a woman brought her elderly Dad in to play some VP on the full pay bank of machines. After getting him seated she sat down behind him at a bank of 3 coin $.50 progressives. Her Dad had given her $20. to play on, and she chose a 4x 4x 4x machine.   First spin 4x 4x 4x $8,xxx.xx.   Happy day for dad, she gave him half.

Wow… How I wish to get the double royal, we did not think about the risk, we think positive instead.
