Questions About Tunica MS?

Post by FloridaPhil »

We have never been to Tunica and are considering a short road trip there this summer. I see on VPfree2 that Bally's and Fitzgeralds both have airport deuces in quarters which we love to play.   I have been told that there is nothing else to do in Tunica and that is fine with us.  Anyone have any feedback for us?  Thanks!

First the good news Phil, you shouldn't have a problem finding a machine to play, the casinos get a little crowded on the weekend but during the week they're kind of slow. I've been playing a bit at Bally's and I guess I like it okay, the buffet wasn't very good the day I ate there but it wasn't bad enough to burn a bridge, I will go back again. I quit playing at Fitz because they took all but two of the games I played when I went there. The Roadhouse has a nice selection of Vp as do Horseshoe. You probably won't find great pay tables but that's the case pretty much everywhere. Now as far as something else to do, not much to find away from the casinos unless you don't mind going to Memphis which is a short drive down Highway 61. In Memphis you could go to Blues Street where you will find plenty of things to do. I don't know if You're an Elvis fan but you could go for a tour of his house, I've never done and I've lived around this area for many years. In any case if you have any other questions I will try to help, otherwise I wish you good luck and maybe I can catch up to you if you come.

Thanks for the info.  What's the best hotel for my wife and I to stay at?

Never stayed at Bally's so I can't provide info on the place. At Fitz you can get a room for $20.15 during the week, rooms not bad but nothing to get excited about. The hotel at Bally's is off site, not far from the3 casino but a bit of a walk, I'm sure they provide a shuttle. I stayed at the Roadhouse a couple of times but I'm guessing they gave me a top a line hotel room since I was a 7* player with CET. In all honesty I would recommend staying at a hotel where you have a choice of casinos, Horseshoe, Gold Strike and The Roadhouse are all together. Bally's is near the three casinos, maybe a mile or so, The Fitz is kind of away from everything. There is also a casino called The Hollywood, pretty nice place with nice rooms and it's next to another casino that I never went to, Sam's Town is right across the street also.

On trips to Tunica a few years ago, I have stayed at both Horseshoe and Gold Strike. The rooms at both hotels were excellent, albeit I was given upgraded rooms in both cases.

I took the VIP tour of Elvis' Mansion in Memphis. Very interesting and informative. The VIP version takes you to areas on the estate that the standard tour does not.

I totally missed this thread because I was in Vegas when it was discussed.

FYI, Fitz's airport deuces game is multiline and you must bet all the lines (10 of them) to bet max. Fitz offers 20/12/10/4/4/3 deuces (97.58%) for single line iirc. Ballys quarter airport deuces game is a super times pay game, so you can play one line and bet five. Roadhouse also has airport deuces on their 100-penny progressive along with 9/6 jacks. Resorts doesn't have decent regular deuces, but they have 98.86% double deuces with a progressive at their stage bar (full houses only pay 3 in that game though as the deuces pay out a whopping $500). Since I'm telling you this, you'll likely hit them. Lol

As for places to stay, if you or your wife would like a whirlpool tub in your room, you really should stay at Roadhouse. The basic rooms have them. We stay there nearly every trip.

If that doesn't matter to you, I'd consider gold strike or horseshoe. Hollywood has good rooms too and an indoor pool like gold strike, but VP generally sucks at Hollywood. Only decent deuces game near there is resorts. And 9/6 JoB at Sam's town, including the bar.

Fitz hotel is okay for a bargain price on a weekday, but also isolated and serves a less classy clientele vs. Horseshoe/gold strike. But I'd just pay $20ish more a night for somewhere nicer than fitz. Definitely don't stay at Ballys.

Vman - any idea what the progressive 9/6 at the roadhouse is usually at? And are those machines usually in use?

Varies on both questions. I've seen it anywhere from $810 to $1130.
Pic of $1130.

It's usually around $1k. Use varies. If the meter is in the four digits, it's fairly busy during normal hours. Meter is about 0.25%; I say about because last trip, I saw it go up with zero play. It went up a penny for every $150 coin-in this high roller was pumping through on 9/5 JoB. That plus sub-max coin play often gets it near the 100% mark.

If you were talking about the 9/6 DDB dollars instead by chance, usually $4300...meh. They're never busy.

You thinking of going soon? We might be going in a couple of weeks.

Stopped in at Roadhouse yesterday, got my clocked cleaned again. Since the machines went in I've only managed one hand pay playing $2 denomination at max, no question this is one tough place to play.

I now live 4 hours from tunica. So any weekend is possible.

So nothing better than 9/6 job? Vman - I need you to find me something a little better....
