AC May 4 thru 8

Post by DaBurglar »

I was in AC all last week, returning saturday (may 9)....I stayed at Resorts for 2 nights, Borgata for 2 nights and Taj for one nite.....My overall results were Video Poker down $650 for a total of 14 hours of play spread out over 5 days (but in actuality I did most of the playing, about 10-11 hours on Tuesday and Thursday).......this was not nearly as "BAD" as typical trips, since I actually had a royal at the Borgata which shored up my overall results and prevented the Negative numbers from creeping into the thousands as is usual.....but I still did not win overall and still had several horrendous spells where NOTHING, I mean NOTHING NADA ZIP ZERO was forthcoming from the machines.....just duds.No Limit Texas Holdem was as usual a much better (and more fun) use of my playing time:  I logged 19 hours of cash game play at $2-4 Texas Holdem at Borgata and Harrahs and finished up $875, although I lost a "huge" pot (about 700 bucks) on a 2 outer suckout, but such is life at the poker table.      I played in two Tournaments but did not finish in the money in these, much to my chagrin...the buy in amounts for the events were $110 and $85 respectively so my Poker profits TOTAL were about 680 bucks.     I probably blew about 35-40 bucks in "tips" to waitresses bringing me beverages though during my 19 hour plus tourney events so that needs to be factored as well. One really HORRIBLE development:    Resorts AC (owned by Mohegan Sun) is sadly now implementing the policy and practices of its Connecticut HQ and has virtually ELIMINATED video poker comps and tier points from its VP machines throughout the property!!!!!   Arrrggh!!   I could not believe it!     And of course, when i asked about it, I was totally brushed off by some clueless young "manager" at the player booth, who said the just recently did this and he is "sorry" about that, etc etc.      OK fine......I am sorry too.   I had resorts as one of my few remaining favorites, but now, forget it......I will not be going there again.Just one more example of how Video Poker is being eliminated from the casino mix.....

Too bad about your video poker results DaBurglar; maybe you can make up for your losses in your upcoming trips to Las Vegas.   If the cards were running hot for you on live poker then why did you play so much video poker?

Too bad about your video poker results DaBurglar; maybe you can make up for your losses in your upcoming trips to Las Vegas.   If the cards were running hot for you on live poker then why did you play so much video poker?who said they were running "hot"?   If you do the math, you will see that my hourly "win rate" is not really that much (comes out to around 40 bucks an hour, give or take), and represents a typical "grinder" mode, whereby a player like myself using conservative (i.e. "tight") but selectively agressive tactics attempts to pull in a steady profit while avoiding huge losses, net result being a small profit or break even......if I get lucky and happen to WIN a few "monster" pots like the 700 dollar pot I lost then so much the better.....I was there for 5 days (120 hours give or take, TOTAL)......subtract 6 hours per day for sleep, and 2 hours for eating and showering, and that leaves 80 hours for any and all activities including gambling.....you can easily see that I manage to spend MORE time not gambling, regardless of what game(s) I choose......and that is exactly what I did.   I visited the AC library several times during my week, I took two (2) Lonnnnnng day trips simply riding around AC on a combination of the Jitney, NJ Transit and even a couple cabs taking in the latest sights (or should I say deterioration) of the rest of AC, noticing which properties were being renovated, which ones are still in business, which ones are vacant.....there is a CRAP LOAD of available residential housing in AC right now ......I also spent time traveling down around CApe May area, almost half of my Friday......I have no intention of trying to make up any losses I had in AC during any of my trips to Vegas......the money I spend in AC is for AC, and the same for Vegas.....if things go to plan, I should spend about 25% of my time in Vegas gambling (roughly the same ratio as in AC), the rest looking around vegas since I only get there once or twice a year these days, visiting old friends, spending at least a couple days (maybe three) in Southern California where I used to live, and other stops and sights, etc.    I am 100% positive I will NOT have nearly enough time to do and see and visit everyone and everywhere I want......

In previous posts you said you were only going to play video poker as a "time filler" but yet you played video poker for almost 40% ofthe time you spent playing live poker?

Wouldn't you have benefitted from spending more time playing live poker instead of video poker?

I'm just trying to see the logic. So you are going to be in Las Vegas later this month and again in July?

I'm just trying to see the logic. So you are going to be in Las Vegas later this month and again in July? You are not trying to see anything, you are instead simply back to your absurd childish BS of  baiting/stalking/smearing any post or thread I happen to post in .... Ted, NO ONE here believes you actually give a crap about my personal play or time allotment in AC.....I was under the impression we were supposed to avoid this crap (these types of posts)?   The forum (as well as the general public) QUITE honestly "GETS" the fact that we absolutely cannot stand each other, and therefore does not need any more evidence of this.Go post some more recycled pics of Video Poker hits instead......

DaBurglar again, I asked you a simple logical question. Wouldn't it have been more prudent and financially saavy for you to spend more time doing something that you made money at instead of spending money at something you did NOT make money at?   As for the recycled pics comment I will again say that none of the pictures I post here of hits that I have made, have been recycled. Sour grapes again...

you are among the throng of automatons here who spout constantly how gambling is all about FUN.......so why are you belaboring and pestering on this self evident/self answering question, if not to simply sully and pollute yet another thread?DOES ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE BESIDES TEDLARK have a problem, issue, or even a "QUESTION" as to how I spent my time and divided my gaming between two different, yet equally "FUN" forms of gambling??!?!?!    Or put another way, DOES ANYONE OUT THERE NOT see or understand how maybe.....just MAYBE I might have wanted to play BOTH games because, well, they offer different challenges and types of entertainment ???      One is against a machine,  one is against (and amongst) people.....jeezus.......

I'll take the machine any day. Had my fill at the craps table years ago dealing with drunks, BO specials, crowders, crappy dealers, ( no pun intended ), and chip swipers. Almost got banned 20 years ago, knocking out a chip swiper with one good shot. I just got lucky. Everything was on film. Nowdays, you can get banned for less than that and they don't care who started what. Still love the game though, but not standing in one place for 15 hours.

My overall results were Video Poker down $650 for a total of 14 hours of
play over 5 days (10-11 hrs on T and Th). This was not
nearly as "BAD" as typical trips, since I actually had a royal at the
Borgata which shored up my overall results and prevented the Negative
numbers from creeping into the thousands as is usual.....but I still did
not win overall and still had several horrendous spells where NOTHING, NOTHING, NADA, ZIP, ZERO was forthcoming from the machines.....just
duds. Thanks for another informative post. That hourly loss rate of $47 sounds familiar. I would have easily exceeded that had I stayed put on my ice cold Tropicana tightwad. The theoretical nominal hourly loss number that gets bandied about so much for my game, JOB, is almost never achieved. I don't know what your Borgata royal hit was, but $100/hour loss without it is brutal.

It's standing for even an hour and keeping track of chips that turns me off. The clientele at the lesser casinos can be rather dismal, but you need not patronize those in AC or LV. I get one free craps bet each visit. When the point is a ten, you might as well just walk away. Ugh.
