Re: AC trip report

Post by DaBurglar »

just got back from one night trip to AC, only on the ground for 24 hours, played harrahs (more play than i ever gave them before) and caesars. never even got to borgata for free play offer. net result, LOST $200, i feel real good about this result after playing hard for 16 hours. notable hits 1/$1k, 2/$500, 2/$200. all play single line quarters, $1.25 bet. i did have one of the most dreaded events happen, that i presume happens to all of us, the 'dead period'. played 5  hours, not a single quad, that time period when a flush is a major event. it has happened before, it will happen again, but it is painful and finacially costly. took all the gains away, that i was up, before it happened.  one other thing i noticed. my last two trips to AC involve approx 32 hours of play. thirty two hours of play at 500-700 hands per hour. do not know what is expected, but i had only 2 quads 2's, and no quad 3's or 4's. and, note, no matter the game, i only save trip 2/3/4 and never save the kicker, so i have 2 chances to draw the match. i know it is not the proper play, that is how i play. i do not remember ever going that long w/out getting more of those premium hands. did get fair amount of quad aces.Notes, first off, excellent detailed report......seriously, i cannot speak for anyone else here, but THIS type of report I find useful and interesting.I actually think you deserve some congrats because, even though you lost overal for the trip, the actual loss (200 bucks) is actually a decent net result given the total number of hands and amount of time you played, especially for AC!    Seriously, 16 hours at 500-700 hands per  (lets average it and say 600 hands an hour), that means you logged about 9600 hands total!       You should have received about  22 quads total within that sample (figuring that Quads should come about once every 440 hands, so statistically  "normal" average result would be about 22-24 quads of all types, some of which will be premium quads....)   Sounds like you were right about on there! So assuming you played 25 cents and you played max coin, your total coin in for 9600 hands is  9600  x  $1.25  =  $12,000 !!    You lost 200 bucks  so in essence, your return is  $12000 - 200 / 12000   which is about 98.3%  return!Given what I know about most paytables in AC for games other than the KNOWN 99+% paytables,  your return of 98.3%  is pretty spot on.Now I personally am left to ponder that, while you did lose and you did have a reported awful dry spell, your overall results do not indicate something is "up" with the games themselves......but of course it does not disprove anything either!I look forward to your next report.....PS--     Since you played at Harrahs and since they are server based, this actually makes sense but it also makes me further suspicious:   Server based is notorious for being artificially "Statistically Perfect"  in that results, over a long period / session  like what you just played will somehow always wind up statistically right on the average.....it seems as though, almost, the server "guided" your results into something that makes statistical sense......

DB , glad to give trip reports. as i have mentioned before, you have also given full net reports, that i appreciate reading. net results are important because new players or those new to the forum, need to see the real results, instead of just posts about big wins.  never saw my session broken down statistically, thanks. as you are from harvard , i will presume they are accurate. if i were to achieve a payback of 97-98% long term playing VP, i would play a lot more. i would guess my results the last few years are closer to 95%.  the casinos deserve to make money, they are providing me an entertainment venue. playing at a buck and a quarter a spin, it would seem fair if my cost was $10-20 an hour. but, what i have seen over the past few years, is more like 3 times that amount, or more.

I now have a firm educated guess on the casinos and machines that are most likely to provide the $30+ hourly entertainment experience, i.e., torture. I resolutely avoid them now! I assume you meant "value", but "venue" also does work. Congrats on losing a mere $200 over 16 hours. Considering it was two CET venues, you got lucky my friend. This reminds me of a woman I met early last year. Returning from Borgata, she rejoiced after spending 12 straight hours on a slot machine and losing $200. Her husband wisely stayed back home. I thought she was nuts, but that was before I read all the VP marathon stories.

casinos always provide a gaming venue, but not always a gaming value. appreciate the congrats. i am well aware how lucky i was, i have way too many past visits to know what the normal loss is for me in AC. my trip did come with airplane travel, transportation b/f to casino, room, all the food i could eat and a $50 food coupon, so i brought home dinner.
