Peek and Play Poker

Post by flamingomom »

Apparently, this is my day for being exceptionally dumb or I'm just having one really long, continuous senior moment. Anyway, when one plays Peek and Play Poker, what do you do if you do not want the Peek card? Please help--I'm a little frustrated.

Many thanks poker friends!

Your only option is to play a different game.

Thanks, Galeygoo. I'll play a few more rounds and go on to the weekly game.

This game should be re-worked to have the option of discarding the peek card. It sucks when you have to give up a potentially good hand (like being dealt a "foyal" with the peek card being something other than the 5th card needed to complete the royal, or being dealt a 3 of a kind and losing the chance of getting a kicker on the draw because of the peek card) because you can't discard the peek card.

In the casinos, it already has been designed that way for single hand. It's called "Super Look Ahead" Poker where you pay 8 credits a hand vs. 7. It sure makes the game a lot easier. They also offer "Look Ahead Poker" which is the single hand version of Peek and Play.

Being forced to take the peek card makes you think a lot more which I sorta like for a change of pace. I'm still annoyed I got in the top 100 in the weekly for this game though because I peeked at dealt AWAK on TDB...

I usually avoid any game that requires additional coins when I play, but last night I was feeling some Quick Quads was in order... and couldn't get a hand if my life depended on it. I decided to go back to my go-to game - regular 5 card draw 10 play DDB or TDB, and 6 hands in on TDB hit the coveted AWAK off a pair of Aces and got back what I lost in QQ, and a little more to take home

Peek and Play is a current adaptation of a game I have always loved called Sneak Peek. It is the exact same game and Trump Taj had quite a few, then gradually whittled it down to 2. The thing with the game was how confused people were by the game. It always amazed me that they could not figure out that the sneek peak card, which at that time was in the upper right hand corner, was merely the NEXT card that was going to come up when you hit the redeal. That was the card you were going to get no matter what, unless you held your hand. It was advantageous when you had say, 4 to the flush in hearts, and the sneek peak card was in spades. Well, the flush was out the window so you had to re-evaluate. I had people stand behind me talking to each other, totally confused on what was going on. I explained it as simply as I could, but so many just could not get it. Hollywood St. Louis now has a few and I just love them. I have won quite a bit on the Super Look Ahead, because you have 2 options instead of being forced to take the redeal card. I hope this keep this game around for awhile, but I have my doubts. People just didn't get it. Amazing.

Considering I see virtually no one play VP at where those machines are located at Hollywood, I wouldn't count on it either. It doesn't help that the min bet are quarters and the paytables are meh.
