Ho-chunk Casino Wisconsin Dells

Hello !

My wife and I will be playing at Ho Chunk Casino in the Dells next week and I was wondering if I could get some information about this casino. How is the video poker ,(machines types ,paytables etc ) and the cocktail service ? Do you have to pay for beer while gambling there ?

I know that all casinos are forbidden to give alcohol away in wisconsin casinos per their gaming compact with the state.

Unfortunately an incoming storm ruined our chance to go there in January as we had to cut our trip to WI Dells short. Would like to hear a little report of what you find as there is a chance we go back there in the future.

Went there and is was as bad as I thought, I didn't pay much attention to other games than DDB and most of the 25 cent denom were 8/5 or even 7/5, so it was pretty bad...also I remember seeing a bank of progressive Bonus Poker machines all of them were 6/5. And most of the machines I played on had 10 coins max.
For a Budweiser you had to pay 3,50 , which I find expensive in a casino here in Colorado it is complimentary.

It's been 5+ years since I've been up there, but I remember the Ho-Chunk Baraboo being the best of the WI casinos; I hit a couple really awful casinos in central WI! Maybe over by the lake they're better?

$3.50 for a Bud is pretty average for the Midwest (Iowa and Detroit are free, iirc). A big reason why I try to go to Tunica or Vegas at least once a quarter...

The 10 coin thing is also definitely a bummer (unless the royal was 4000 for 5 of course). Thanks for the follow up.

No free booze in Minnesota casinos either. In fact Mystic Lake on the Mdewakanton rez was dry until recently; I've heard they used to check bags and confiscate bottles people brought in to the hotel even.

   Fatz I can say with 100% certainty that security staff at Mystic Lake did check bags and confiscate alcohol that people were attempting to bring into their hotel rooms. I had 4 wine coolers liberated from my suitcase that I was carrying up to our hotel room for my then girlfriend. I told the security crew who took them to go have a party...

Stopped in there last Wednesday, first time in 6 years. They have Ultimate X, Extra Draw Frenzy, Quick Quads and some others on their All Star machines. Couldn't catch the paytables, but many of the players had over $500 in credits and doing well when I watched them. They have Four Card and Multi-Card Keno, too. You couldn't get a seat. Lots of people there mainly because The Dells is a very popular summer vacation spot. I didn't play at all

I told the security crew who took them to go have a party...Somewhere I read that back in the day -- we're talking 19th Century here -- whites and Indians had distinctive drinking habits. A group of whites with a bottle would pass it around so everyone got equally buzzed, while a group of Indians with a bottle would choose one of their number to drink most or all of it, then entertain themselves watching him make a fool of himself.Back in the 21st Century tho alcoholism is endemic "on the rez," as is associated abuse, fetal alcohol syndrome, etc. So I can understand why Mystic was dry until relatively recently.Personally I do like to pull a cork, but after many years of daily indulgence becoming an issue with Mrs. Minn. (who has a family history of alcohol abuse) I poured every drop in the house down the drain and went on the water wagon -- ok, lemonade -- double strength if you must know -- for several months. These days a couple of stiff ones a week is about average for me.
