I was there last week, for the first time in more than a month. Got very lucky, hit a royal to bail me out of a $600 loss, into a $400 win. Pure luck.

As many others have, I have cut back on my play there, as CET has cut back on offers. I have noticed a considerable drop off in the number of players over the past four months.

other than fewer players and reduced offers, everything else still the same.

Maybe that's why rooms are so easy to get now.......I was able to get 2 rooms for a trip coming up in November; had to pay 109 for one room, the other was a comp. My offers are otherwise decreased compared to a year ago.

I think you are correct. Years past, Cherokee had so many seven stars, they took up many of the rooms. Many of those players have decreased their play, it is now easier for others to get a room. Cherokee got fat/happy and may have started taking their best customers for granted. I go a lot less and the crowds are much smaller.

Just got back from a Thurs night, Fri, and early Saturday trip and the number of people there was way down from usual. They've added a lot of slots since my trip in March. It was pretty easy to get on your favorite machine between playing videopoker.

And you don't think the newer casino that they also own and is closer to Atlanta has nothing to do with the original casino thinning out a bit? If Georgia legalized casino gambling, Cherokee would REALLY be screwed.

Take away cherokee's monopoly on casino play for four states and of course they would be screwed. Good lesson for those who think letting the government handle more functions, less competition and typically, worse results for the consumer.

I/m/o, Cherokee has seen a big reduction in activity when there was a corresponding big reduction in free play. I have read the reduced free play was a national CET occurrence.

No doubt the new casino had some impact, but it is much smaller, fewer games and no diamond lounge.

Cherokee is a decent place to play for a day, but I wouldn't play there for long.  The VP odds used to be decent, but now they are among the worst.  We like the place, but if we want to get fleeced we'll go to Biloxi where they really know how to do it right.

The new casino in Murphy is REALLY small. You can see the whole casino from the hotel lobby.

Went to Cherokee in May..hadn't been there in 10 years. Wow...really nice..we went out winners which was really nice too..lol...We stopped at the Casino in Murphy before we went over to Cherokee. It wasn't very impressive and I won't be back. Now the Cherokee upgrades from when we last were there is very impressive...Going back in October
