tropicana AC was my initial "home casino" when I first started going to AC in February 2009.....it was on the verge of collapse when Icahn bought it and turned it around, slowly but surely between 2009 and 2011......during this time however, I was first introduced to the strange and bizarre world of AC video poker results, this after having spent all my life accustomed to typical, statistically NORMAL video poker results in Vegas. From 2009 until I left Tropicana and went to other AC casinos in 2011, I saw many "nightmares" on many Tropicana machines.I have all but abandoned tropicana AC the last 2-3 years, but now that it has seemingly re-invented itself, I will give it one last shot........note that this is NOT me pursuing yet another video poker experience. I plan to get the most out of Tropicana's decent POKER ROOM first and foremost, and if.....IF I have any real spare time and (more important) spare cash, I will try a few LIMITED video poker sessions. In fact let me note here to all interested parties: during the non-peak offseason (September thru April) Tropicana's Poker room offers one of the best ROOM rates of any Poker room in AC.......Sunday thru Thursday, a cash game player who logs 6 hours per day can get a room at 39 bucks a night, every night they log it! If you manage to log 10 hours per day after the first two nights the third night is FREE! you can also earn decent comp dollars in the Trop's poker room play

Sounds like a wise live poker game plan. I did have two nice experiences there, but they feel like ancient history now. Good riddance. I won't let the VP demoralize me further. All Tropicana VP sessions are de facto limited. Your bankroll will not endure anything lengthy.

I know it's boring, but the 5 Joker.25 progressives can be played for hours on a limited bankroll, looking for the 5J's or natural royal. I have hit a natural royal on these machines, but never the 5 J's. Saw that progressive get up to almost $5,000 some time ago. But as I said, very boring. You may stay in a + $100 to -$100 range for a couple of hours.

That's plenty for low roller excitement. I just don't know Five Jokers. I am starting to play DW, which is great fun and pretty safe on the old Cheap System.

Don't think the strategy for 5 J's is difficult. Kinda like deuces, may be a strategy chart somewhere. seems pretty intuitive. Best game at the Tropicana AC.

Yeah, very close to deuces actually. I have never seen this game in an actual casino at any paytable.

The 5 joker machines at Trop typically are occupied during all but the early morning hours of 3am to 6 am.......basically after breakfast, they are almost always full! And last time I was there, the 5 joker machines on the floor of Trop AC did not earn much in the way of comps or player points.....maybe this has changed recently?

I took a walk down to the Trop to check out the VP poker Bar ( 10 North
Bar ) which is located close to the north tower and the tables on the
casino floor. I'm trying to remember all they had. They have about 6 machine with Ultimate X, Supertimes, & Spin PokerThey have about 10 machines with JOB (9-5), DDB (9/6 ), Deuces Wild ( wild royal paid 25 w/ 1 coin bet ).Sorry, I can't remember the other games. The bar/lounge area is very nice with very comfortable chairs. Drinks are comp during play and they're open 24/7.
