Button Bangers

Post by FAA »

Casinos are so busy on the weekend in AC that invariably one will encounter the most boorish players on the East Coast on one's island or bank. You know, the only one with full pay at the preferred denomination. Such was the case on Sunday. I wanted to squeeze in two more hours and catch a later ride home. But I got a button banger three seats away. Every card hold and draw was an opportunity to pulverize his buttons, his paw raining down about a foot. My own machine had two diagonally cracked buttons thanks to his brethren. I didn't confront him, but after about ten minutes and resorting to headphones, I simply gave up and left at my usual time. Whether he actually did me a favor by preventing me from losing, I'll never know. But I will certainly steer clear of El Diablo on future visits. I returned later to check; he was still banging away, and won a big hand. I can only take solace in the fact that he, like most of us, is a long term VP loser. Possible pet peeve. I know my tolerance is below par.

Perhaps we could hear from some Button Bangers as to why he or she needs to bang on the buttons so intensely annoying others who are playing and trying to concentrate. Do the Button Bangers know they are bothering others? Lets hear from them!

This is one of my pet peeves as well, and there always seems to be at least one banger every time I play!

Back when video games were played in arcades part of the job of the staff was to monitor and call out players who abused the machinery by hauling on joysticks, banging on buttons, etc. I'd assume most casinos have a similar investment in their machinery and that a word to the right person would bring the appropriate floor person over to instruct friend button banger to lighten up on the equipment.

Just came back from Tunica. May have heard the worst one I have ever run across at Roadhouse. Could hear slapping away from a few rows down...

Not to cast aspersions on any one group but I find them to be older men and younger women.
Not to cast aspersions on any one group but I find them to be older men and younger women
I think your observation is correct.  Maybe it's a power thing?  Could be the older guy needs to reassert himself and a young woman thinks she can overpower the machine and make it pay.  Good subject for a physciatrist.

Vman, misery loves company. This kind of slapstick is never funny. Now imagine him six feet away. I wanted to put him six feet under. He was not particularly old. He was diminutive in stature, however. I should have sang a few bars of Randy Newman's Short People alongside him on the way out. I know nothing was getting him off the machine.

I may discreetly try to get a staffer to intervene next time. It never even occurred to me. This was plenty abusive. These people must have limited experience with a keyboard. Economy of motion is essential. Fingers barely leave the keys. Casinos don't even bother replacing buttons either, as my two cracked buttons bear out. The machines are old and tough to service I guess. And full pay, so people will play them regardless.

I am late to the discussion, but where do these button bangers get all the energy from? When I started off I played entirely on a touch screen, my hands would get tired if much hand movement was required.
