At what point is the royal worth going for?

I saw this .50 BP at $2174 as of today, took this pic yesterday. I don't play bonus games but was wondering when the royal gets to a point that its worth a shot at?

Every $2000 adds about 2%, in which you start being more aggressive trying to chase the Royal Flush.

WOW it's higher then I have ever seen now, there is a bank of 12 machines to this pot, it hits often. I'll stick to 9/6 jack.

If you have a good long term perspective, 9/6 Jacks is the superior game compared to this game if it were to hit often enough before reaching double Royal Flush levels. The $4800 amount barely exceeds what normal full pay 8/5 Bonus were to pay off.

There is one more thing to consider with most progressives, it is short pay for its base and the risk of ruin is far greater. Your patience and bankroll will need to be stretched. If you are not the lucky one that gets it, you would have to wait until the amount reaches back to good levels again. Only getting 6 for 1 for full house will be costly.

For people that really think 9/6 jacks is boring, I always recommend playing few hands at much higher stakes to make things feel more interesting.

Or, try multiline. Playing 5, 10, or more, lines adds a lot of excitement to the game - dealt hands like quads or full houses are great, and do I even have to mention the feeling of anticipation when four to the royal is dealt?

Now THAT is a progressive worth spending hours on.

A $3000 royal flush on a quarter game would more than make it a 100% return game. Every few hundred dollars is gravy.

Even though it hit at $10,444, it must have been through more than a million hands without hitting a jackpot.

It never gets high, the progressives all have low pay tables.I agree with you on Jacks its the best game over all. Right now I am playing max quarter 9/6 job with max dollar pot shots on any 3 of a kinds. Hit six $125 4oak the last few trips. Two royals in the last 2 weeks for 1k each am loving the game! Looking for a pot shot 4k royal soon!

I played full pay 9/6 JOB on progressives most of 2015. Since my January max coin Royal Flush, I could not even score a quad most trips before abandoning them in rage. My win was a whopping $1,006. They were usually at a paltry $1,005-$1,025 when I played so I did not expect a repeat RF, but were they ever tight.  I don't even patronize the casino anymore for fear of busting. I play non progressive 9/6 JOB elsewhere and premium hands have been noticeably more generous! Much happier camper once I hopped off Progressive Pit Parkway. The waitresses were no spring chickens either.
