Is the TAJ about to go down for good?

Post by DaBurglar »

When i was in AC last week during my excursion, the Taj Mahal seemed on the brink of complete closure/collapse......granted it has been that way the past year it seems, but lately it is worse than ever, as the place is perpetually empty (relatively speaking) compared to all the other AC places, and after reading all the various articles and reports on just what exactly is transpiring with the whole dispute/confrontation with the UNION Local 54 and Mr Icahn, I'm totally lost as to who holds the upper hand and what is going to happen.....I know the UNION has gone out of its way to sabotage everything Icahn is trying to do to turn around the TAJ (as he has done with the TROPICANA), and Icahn is just about fed up with it and is on the brink of throwing in the towel.    If that happens the TAJ is gone in a huge, big hurry......and that makes me sad (as well as bodes really really ill for AC for the foreseeable future as RESORTS would be next due to its close proximity to the TAJ and dependence on the TAJ for foot traffic during the crucial summer months since the steel pier is essentially part of the TAJ.....what a travesty.I have heard rumors how Union 54 stalwarts are "sabotaging" the TAJ with typical ploys like discouraging people from booking there, among other things.....that would explain the emptiness.    Try calling the 800 number and speaking to a real person.....wont happen.....you'll be on the phone for an hour and urged to try and use the PHONE automation system (which is totally antiquated and sucks.)And now, for the past 4-5 days, the TAJ website, which has been its one saving grace with its ease of use in booking rooms for its chairman members, HAS BEEN DOWN FOR THE COUNT.....it says "MAINTENANCE" but I find it absurd the whole website would be totally down for so long for "maintenance"!   So what are people doing or supposed to do to book rooms now???      UNREAL......I really think it is sabotage.

I love the empty Taj lounge, perfect for spreading out and feeling comfortable. Too comfortable to last, of course. Revenue is hard to come by at Taj. The food court starring the mighty WHS is also a draw for me. The north end of the boardwalk faces extinction.

instead of knocking the union at the taj, remember carl icahn took away all of their benefits when he took over. Its a lot more complicated than that Doris.....and he did not come in and just "TAKE" their benefits, he showed them (rightly so) that what they were receiving was unsustainable if the TAJ was to continue operating, and he has pledged to restore many of their benefits IF they will work with him and return the TAJ to profitability.   I used to be a Union 54 supporter, but I have researched and looked into just what exactly is going on with them and the whole TAJ situation, and it is not at all good.    if you do not believe me go back and research the entire saga and you will see what I mean......FYI the TAj Website for Cardholders is still DOWN as of this post!!!

DaBurglar do you "Revel" in showing your intelligence? All it would take for the Taj to get back onto firmer ground would be for BOTH sides to give in a little.

FYI: As of this post I still don't care that the Taj's website is still down. With your computer skills, can't you help them get it up and running again?

Here is the Message on the LOG IN SCREEN, it has remained unchanged for almost a week now:"Unfortunately, the My Account website to view your Taj
Mahal Offers is under maintenance.  Please contact us at 1-800-825-8888
to review, reserve or cancel your offers. You may also contact your
Player Development Executive at 1-800-234-5678.
"If you try and call  the RESERVE OFFERS number, be prepared for a LONG LONG wait before you actually speak to a live human (if you ever do.)  I never seen such an absurd thing as part of a Huge casino....The Player development number may get you an operator to pass on your message to your host (if you still have one.....last i checked most TAJ Hosts had long bailed or been let go.)

The folks at the card center were pretty lackluster when I first enrolled. Not too surprised about the current ineptitude, but it is far more alarming, as if affects far more people. The canary in the coal mine.
