Well we are close enough that I will start posting here again. I will be there next Tuesday! I can't believe how fast it came up.
Here is my planned strategy so far. Please let me know what you think.
I have $500 total now. Those of you who have been following my messages know that I am prepared to lose it all if needed and that I want to try to at least double it or go broke and most of all have some real fun playing for the first time in a casino, which may mean taking some risks just for the gamble. I know that the odds of me losing it all are higher than winning big so there are no illusions there.
I am choosing to play Deuces Wild because I have practiced it, there are okay paytables out there, and it has a lot of small hits to sustain my low bankroll for a time even if I never hit a royal or 4 deuces.
I also want to see a lot of sights when I am in Vegas so really I am not planning on more than 3 or 4 hours of play on such a short trip. That means I do not have to play nickels the entire time. 3-4 hours to go through $500 and try to win something.
So I have come up with a strategy that I may change a bit still. If it works you can all buy my book but it goes something like this: (see next post)
Finally going to Vegas!!!!! November!

The Eduardo Plan for SUCCESS (or failure)™
Bankroll: $500
Play $100 at a time and cash out after each round for 5 rounds.
First $100 - Test the beginner's luck (aka Starting Stupid)
Triple play dollars (yes, you read that right). As few as seven deals total, max bet. If something hits, we are in a new ballpark. Keep playing at this level until busting or winning at least another $100. If victory, cash out and pocket all winnings and proceed to next step. If failure (broke) proceed to next step with only $400 remaining.
Second $100 - Settle down and get the hang of it
Note I have edited this a little from the original now based on use responses.
Nickels, single or 3 line depending on how slow it goes. I burned my first $100 by Starting Stupid. Now it's time to get used to the machine and the environment, make smart plays, and just play a while. Move up to quarters once I'm more comfortable. Victory here will be getting up $50 or more. Failure is again burning it down to zero. If victory or bored because things are holding steady a long time, cash out and pocket whatever is left. If failure, proceed to next step with only $300 remining.
Third $100 - Settled in, game time
Quarters. Victory is winning $100 if I happen to be ahead by this point or returning to my original bankroll of $500 if I have lost out the previous 2 rounds. Failure is zero.
Fourth $100 - Wash, rinse, repeat
Bathroom break, repeat third section.
Final $100 - Go for broke (and probably succeed)
If somehow ahead overall after the above processes but not doubled over $1,000, continue with quarters until at least doubling initial banroll or losing this $100. If down to the last $100, return to nickels until it's almost time to go home, then play some quarters.
End game - Leftovers
If any of the rounds above resulted in a success, there is something in my pocket. If I happened to more than double my overall bankroll by hitting something great, I will then pocket $1,000 and play a little with what remains. I am happy to leave with that so losing what is above will be alright. On the off chance I ever reach over $2,000 then I will pocket everything except $1,000 and play some more with that $1,000 bankroll. If I have very little left over then the odds of reaching $1,000 are low and it's desperation time. Play some dollars until almost broke, play some nickels or quarters until it expires or digs me out of the hole enough to start again. I am no less happy going home with $0 than $50 in this case so I might as well.
Overtime - Enjoy Vegas
I am now a wealthy thousandairre and can go out on the town, or my pockets are light and I can make good time walking up and down the strip to see the free sites. I will certainly report back here with my results.
Please share your thoughts and I will revise as necessary.

Also, one of the members here has said they will meet up with me when I get there to walk me through the Player's club, finding a good machine, etc. so my worries about that are gone. Thank you!

Eduardo
You put a lot of (or little) thought into your plan. May the LUCK be with you.
If it works we will all be lined up to buy your book and read your columns.

Has any noticed that Eduardo used to write as if he spoke Spanish more than English, and now his writing is clear, concise and well written? Eduardo, are you really Bob Dancer in disguise???

My spanish is terrible.I know how that goes Eduardo. Even though I have lived in Wichita for over 30 years, people still have trouble getting past my accent. I speak "Arkansas" as I was raised there!Sounds like a plan on the "play." How long are you going to be there? Are you limiting your play to those three or four hours regardless of the success or failure?I always look at it from a history of experience and budget my BR by the day. I think I've stated before that I limit loses to around 2000 credits per day. If I start dipping heavily into that then I switch to Basic Strategy Blackjack on the Single Deck or Double Deck tables on Fremont...particularly at El Cortez. I don't even bother "counting" any more. BS will carry you a long way unless you get on an extremely long losing streak.Wish it had worked out that I could have joined you in Vegas on this Virgin Trip.

Eduardo, sounds like a fun plan. The only triple play $ deuces you will find are NSUD. The strategy for that game is quite different from FPDW. Is that what you want to play or are you interested in something else?
In addition, it is very likely that stage 2 will last longer than you will be in LV. Do you have a max time in mind?
PS. I still plan to meet up. You get in just ahead of my jury duty on the 15th.

I can't resist throwing in my thoughts. I prefer to start out very conservatively. FPDW for quarters. You should be able to stay pretty close to even but if not lower your denom. No system will help you, but limiting your losses early should keep your enthusiasm up. Even at this level the royal willget you to your goal. If you are having good luck then up the ante a little.I like to be able to go for broke my last day. Then you have less time to suffer if you do break. Let's face it, it's fun to go for a really big win but save it for the end unless you get up. It ain't no fun to exhaust your roll too early and be relegated to sightseeing.

Stepmo, I noticed a marked improvement in Eduardo's English shortly after you know who wasn't around anymore. Eduardo were you pulling his chain?
