Jacks or better - hands value

Post by millerlite »

Hi, new here. Quite interested in video poker. I see on wizardofodds that for full pay jacks-or-better, 4-to-a royal is has an expected value of 18.3617. I cannot come up with this number now matter how I try, wonder if someone well verse in mathematics can lend me a hand. There are in general 3 types of 4 to a royal hand
AKQT / AKJT / AQJT
AKQJ
KQTJ
The first type - with an Ace & ten is least value of the 3 (the second, you have 3 extra high pair outs while the 3rd kind, you have extra straight, and straight flush outs). I see 564 times that you would play hand type with an expected payout of 10410.382979 giving a return of 18.4581258488003641105024144. The other 2 kind gives a even higher return. What am I missing?

Anyone has an idea of how to try to come up with that number?

Thanks.

The 18.458 figure is correct when the fifth card is in the range of 2-9 and of a different suit.the 18.362 figure is correct when the fifth card is in the range of 2-9 and of the same suit as the AHHT.Bob
