Are Wheel Poker and Spin Poker a waste of time?

Why do you play video poker? What is your favorite game and why?

No, I'll just throw a few bucks in them now and again for fun.  The paytables aren't awesome, true (although the paytable doesn't take into account the bonuses, IDK how that figures into the return, and it's probably incalculable anyway since the bonus is effectively just a slot machine) but at least at the Borgata, they aren't as awful as the non-gimmick machines are at other joints (i.e. Harrah's with their ugly 7/5 quarter DDB STP machines) so they're aren't wholly unplayable.  But I wouldn't go play those with my whole bankroll expecting an extended session.  EDIT: And yes, the hot roll $7200 was at Borgata.  I haven't played these anywhere else.
wow thanks for the reply.....so am I correct in understanding you play in AC a lot???I too agree that Borgata is not quite as bad as most other AC joints, although even Borgata must be tempted by what they see the other AC properties getting away with.....Still, I would be interested in hearing more of your AC exploits, Borgata and elsewhere, and what other conclusions you have drawn in your play there.    Also, if you are interested, I am in AC once a month usually for 4-5 days (or more) at a time......I play a lot of LIVE POKER in the poker rooms, and Borgata is one of the primary ones.      I wpi;d be interested in meeting you at some point if possible.......

I just finished playing a few hands of WHEEL POKER DELUXE here on the site.....Anyone actually seen THIS game yet in a real casino anywhere????Well I cannot personally see myself playing the WHEEL POKER DELUXE game for real money......what a travesty!    Instead of actual MONEY, the "wheel" in deluxe sheds into a mulit hand bonus game very similar to Extra Draw Frenzy Bonus round, only the deluxe bonus "wheel" is a random setting of anywhere from triple draw to 100 hundred draw, with a partial hand already randomly dealt and you must then complete the partial hand and win a bonus amount based on the NUMBER of actual MADE hands that result from the draw against the PARTIAL hands,        Um, No thanks casinos, I will pass on this money pit.   But Kudos to this site for putting the game here so I can make that determination before wasting my funds in some AC palace of unfairness.

Yes. Ameristar Kansas City used to have 8/5 Bonus for quarters. It's still fairly available in downtown/offstrip. It doesn't exist in AC at all.

Mohegan Sun has all of these gimmick games now. They are not for me. If I have a good day on regular play, I would rather play a little of the extra on Double Down Stud vp. I like the idea of 5k for a dealt Royal with 5 in or 200 bucks for dealt quad deuces with just a quarter in before doubling. I have hit 3 dealt royals on those machines over the years and dealt quad deuces several times last year. Waiting for the first one this year. Paytable just under 98% on the Deuces wild DDstud game. Not great, but a nice diversion. Also it is easy to play 1,000 hands per hour on these machines. They are very hard to find nowdays though.

Thnx vman....yes I knew AC did not have wheel Deluxe yet (as far as I knew anyway)....but I have seen the regular wheel poker, where the "wheel" dishes out coins/credits.    They are all over the place in AC now, and appear to be very popular.....I spoke with a slot employee in Resorts during my stay back in late december (I reported on this I think in a previous thread), when Resorts had just gotten in a bunch of new machines that the employee said were there on something of a "trial basis" (if anyone remembers, or if anyone has been back to resorts AC lately, these machines are on the casino floor at the end closest the boardwalk entrance and the margaritaville restaurant/casinos. )   Anyhow,  WHEEL poker was one of the games/machines and there were a number of them on Resorts' floor, along with "hot roll", and "Royal hunt" and a couple others, and even one 5 star machine!          In december the employee said management was going to reevaluate which games to keep come early february, which is basically NOW.     I have a feeling they will be keeping the wheel games.....
