AC casino "decontrolling"

Post by DaBurglar »

SO coincidentally, in 2011 Gov Christie, along with 2 AC state reps, pushed through the now infamous bill "De-controlling" all of AC's casinos.....this supposedly was to help the casinos become more competitive and help stave off the bleeding they were experiencing with all their business going to Pennsylvania.    we now know this was all a lot of BS....AC's competitive "problems" were NOT due to the presence of NJ Gaming agents on the floor 24/7, they were due to the fact that AC casino managers REFUSED to do the most basic & obvious measures to retain customers and attract BACK business they lost.   IF, for 30 plus years prior to casinos opening in Pennsylvania in 2006 AC had managed to reap huge profits ALL THE while having gaming agents in house 24/7, why on earth was it felt that by removing the regulatory agents and GUTTING the NJ Gaming Commission by laying off 70% of its work force would somehow HELP the casinos i 2011???   Could it be, in fact, that the casinos got the governor to give them this "Concession" so that they could, in turn, resort to dark desperate measures?I stopped by the Gaming Control Office again on Friday February 5, and spoke to several employees there (actual REAL LIVE employees in the office!)    It was yet another eye opening, jarring experience listening to these employees tell of their experiences and opinion on the state of things.     As I related my continued problems with AC video poker, I was encouraged (nay, IMPLORED) to write up a complaint and submit it....."couldn't hurt" said one employee.....I said I would think about it.     But they then regailed me with stories about how, SINCE 2011, the number, frequency and size of winnings in all AC casinos has declined dramatically, and they say it is no mystery as to why.    The only reason the government cant, or wont, really do anything or look into it is simply, the AC casino industry cannot TAKE IT.   There you heard it here......as I have been saying all along, even if the AC casinos ARE violating the letter of the regs and law, NOTHING will ever be done about it.I encourage.....NAY, IMPLORE, any and all of you here who are going to AC in the near future to stop by and visit the Gaming Control OFFICE  located on Tennessee Avenue.    Talk to the door guard named "jim" for starters.....he used to be a dealer at the Trump Marina and then was a actual Agent for several years before Gov Christie and the gang decided AC casinos would forevermore be chock full of integrity and honesty. There is now no doubt at all in my mind that many (probably MOST) ac video poker games are seriously skewed to yield results NO WHERE near what we expect.   The place is still dying, still bleeding, therefore they have NOTHING to lose anymore by squeezing what few dollars are left out of the games and into their pathetic quarterly executive bonuses (or maybe even stash accounts, who knows.)    In New Jersey, CORRUPTION is endemic and "the normal way of doing things"......

We got a general overview of your GC visit. It would have been swell to get their actual stories. I understand that you cannot readily violate what was said in confidence. We can only imagine. I see there is a general public meeting tomorrow morning. It would be interesting if disenchanted gamblers went down and said their piece. I don't think Borgata gamblers are too distraught about the overall state of affairs. That can be quite a cushy bubble.

The accounts typically involved long time AC gamblers who have been coming since the city first opened, walking into the Office on Tenn Ave and simply asking "How come it is now so hard to win?"    Seriously, it's that simple and basic.     Now we all know the old adage about how people only remember the BAD and not the good, blah blah blah, but to have SO many people all saying the SAME thing starting around  the exact same time (late 2011 or so), just too much coincidence,    But, as I have been maintaining, I do not just automatically take peoples' word on anything......for me the proof is in the abject, unyielding, totally out of bounds NEGATIVE results that simply do not change or deviate.....NOTHING in all my previous 20 years playing, ANYWHERE else, even comes close to what I have now seen and witnessed for the better part of 5 years in AC.Truth is, the ONLY royals I have either seen or received myself in the last 18-20 months are on Progressive machines (where the casino has no choice but to allow Royals to occur at least once in a great while.)Borgata 's ability to keep things somewhat near normal is simply due to their overall COMPETENCE in everything that involves running a hotel-casino such that the VOLUME they are able to maintain means that they can stick to the script for running a profitable casino ....

DaBurglar, my advice would be to not push to hard and far, these people don't play games when they get serious.

I would agree that vp play in AC sure ain't what it used to be. $100 used to last all day, now it's about 1/2 hour with no comps or perks. I would disagree that this is unique to NJ. Most casinos are run by banks and investment firms. Boyd is one of the last ones that still has gaming people and who knows how long that will last. If Bill Harrah was alive today, he would go ballistic over what loveman and apollo have done with his empire. My solution was to find a new hobby, and it has become very enjoyable. Although I am very close to AC, I only visit the casinos to walk around and have a meal at a few favorite spots.

you are one of the smart ones, if the casinos are not giving you the value you seek, play less or not at all. yet, we keep hearing from some posters, that opportunities abound to make money at VP.

the ONLY royals I have either seen or received myself in the last 18-20
months are on Progressive machines (where the casino has no choice but
to allow Royals to occur at least once in a great while.)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thanks for the incidental explanation of how Progressives work. They have their own independent wills from what you set forth. I've been trying to sort that out. I've gotten two RFs in the last 13 months. One on a Caesars Progressive. They do seem to hit fairly regularly, within $100 of the minimum $1000. One at a regular Borgata machine, the one coin Pyrrhic victory. If all I played at Caesars was normal unlinked machines, I'd be waiting for snowballs in hell.

Glad to have this silver lining in the Marina. I should make a point of visiting each visit, just for the glitz and customer service alone.

DaBurglar another load of third party, here say, cow manure from you. Most everything you wrote in your opening post is your opinion and nothing more.

And where is the coincidence when you said: "So coincidentally"? What were you speaking of that was coincidental with something else?

I'm still wondering WHY you give these PSA's (Public Service Announcements) practically begging people to not play video poker in Atlantic City casinos? As others, and I, have posted before: just don't play video poker in Atlantic City. Let people make their own determination as to whether they should play video poker or not.

Until you come up with some absolute, written on the third stone tablet, sworn testimony, this is all still just your opinion.

WHY do you continue to post this same drivel over and over and over again?
