Coushatta Changes 50/100 Play VP Set Minimum/Hand

Post by Lucky Larry »

Coushatta Casino, Kinder, La. this past Friday replaced six older version (3) 50 & (3) 100 play machines with newer upgrades that offer both regular draw and Super Times Play - (2) 50 & (4) 100. The pay tables remained the same wonderful nice returns as I’ve touted many times before here. The STP are a little lower than at Isle of Capri but still reasonable. However; the new machines have new minimum play amounts for each denomination.
50 play 1¢ = $.50                    100 play = $1.00
50 play 2¢ = $1.00                    100 play = $2.00
50 play 5¢ = $2.50                    100 play = $5.00
50 play 25¢ = $12.50               100 play = $25.00
50 play 50¢ = $25.00               100 play = $50.00
50 play $1.00 = $$50.00               100 play =$100.00

Of course Super Times Pay requires the sixth coin added to all of the minimums per hand to activate the multiplier.

When I brought this to the Slots Managers they were unaware of the high minimum but checked the Casino Sheets and sure enough 20% minimum bet was established. We discussed at length the impact this has on regulars. They were very receptive to my concerns but they all admitted none really played VP. As I explained this not only affected my play but most of the senior lower denomination regulars who bring $20-$100 on Senior Tuesday and hope to play for hours a few hands at a time. A $1 minimum could have an impact on their opportunity to play. Additionally, I was able to explain that while Sweet C and I play 5¢ and 25¢ VP we don’t start out at $25/hand but usually 5-10 hands and move up depending on our play. A $25/hand minimum is way beyond the normal 25¢ VP player’s bankroll – including mine. The Slot Manager then contacted the Slot General Manager re: the minimums. They promised to get back to me ASAP.

One of the things I really like about Coushatta is their receptiveness to concerns and suggestions. I received a call back this afternoon and they told me they were attempting to contact the IGT Rep. to determine if they could set a more reasonable minimum. They inquired as to my suggestions for minimums and why players would not play the full minimum amount. We discussed this issue and they said they would keep me update. I know I’ve seen $0.50 / $1.00 minimums before. I’ll keep everyone updated.
