Most VP was unplayable there. It seemed the higher you went in denomination the worse it got.
Correct.  We used to make 3-4 trips to the Beau Rivage each year.   They downgraded the video poker odds a few years back to "Jesse James" levels and we haven't been back.  The Beau Rivage is a fantastic hotel, but the video poker is the worst we have ever seen.   The last time we were there they had 7/5 DDB in the high limit room!  Can you imagine how bad the slot odds are?  The best way to experience the Beau is to stay there and play somewhere else.  If we ever go back, that's our plan.

I thought the same thing about the slots. If they are doing this to VP imagine what they are doing to the slot machines. We did walk to Harrahs both full days there but no luck there. It was a pretty quick trip. Had a guy next to me at Beau playing $25 Vp but only betting 3 coins. Just don't quite get that concept especially if the royal comes up which is what we are all hoping for.

Playing video poker... But I am thinking you can not play Freeplay on video poker... But yet rack up points for Freeplay... Odd!    The day we went a couple of months ago was a 20x promotions.   So we racked up lots of good comps.

That's unusual for a Mississippi casino, they have promotions like that all the time but video poker has always been excluded. Best I've ever seen for video poker is 5X, the promotion signs will say 10X or 20X but in small print it has always said this offer is not valid for vp play. You must have caught the casino at the perfect time or someone messed up. As for being able to use that free play for video poker that would surprise me, I'm only aware of one Mississippi that allows that to happen. It's weird the way that casino lets you use your free play on vp also, you put say a $100 bill in the machine and then choose the amount of free play you want to use, every losing hand is reimbursed until the free play is gone.

7/5 is the worst I've ever seen also, one of our local casinos dropped their pay tables and I remember that $1 DDB was 7/5. I used to go there on occasions to play Let It Ride but I would always check to see what the pay tables were. The casino must have been run by complete morons because when I first started going there the $1 DDB was 9/6, the casino was packed all the time and sometimes you had trouble getting a machine to play and that includes slots, jackpots everywhere. About 5 years back the entire casino turned cold as ice, it was still packed but play on all the games turned sour. I quit playing the vp and stuck to playing Let It Ride. Every time I went to the place the casino was a little less crowded. They then dropped the vp to 9/5, then 8/5, the place was shedding players like crazy and even though hardly anyone would play vp they dropped the pay tables to 7/5. Turned out great for them, the place went out of business.

When GN - Lake Charles opened December 2014 they matched rival casino's players card tier for tier. As a result I got top tier and a nice $200/weekly free play to start. The problem was limited VP, lower pay tables, and no "free play" on VP. After complaining to the Director of Marketing and Slot Manager their response was "no free play on VP" was part of their "business plan" to keep the house edge on VP. So Sweet C and I would take the Free Play to the high limit area, play $5 slots and cash out immediately upon reaching our $200. Several times we ended up with over$200 in tickets to head for VP. Thanks GN.

Thanks FAA.
"Learn the system and you can then take advantage of the system legally." Players have to learn to use every advantage they can since the house always has the edge. Free rooms and meals are nice but we almost all come out losers. Tomorrow is Mother's Day so we'll play all day on Sweet C's cards to build up her entries. She can get up to 1000. She really wants that new car --> to trade in for cash. Here's thinking positive. I told her you still haven't spent all of the $1000 she won on the free credit card before Christmas yet!
