Interesting, I have been playing mostly 9/5tb+ for quarters through dollars. Even though I have been going more often, because I have been doing well, many FP has dropped off the cliff. I used to get $20, then $10, now my latest was $5 - but only after earning 25 points. I guess they really do watch what you play.

I would use my freeplay on the tb+ at 99.8%, playing dollars, the expected loss per hand was 1 cent. So, $10 FP would allow me to play 1000 hands at no house edge. Maybe I will try the penny slot idea to see what that does to my mailers.

(It takes a few months at least for this kind of "subtle" change in your play to manifest results.)I would be interested in you reporting back with your results.

Bob is exactly correct on this subject, my brother and his wife do the weekly trips to AC like I do but they are are both strictly penny slot players. Their free play is triple of what I get. On another site that I frequent a very knowledgeable poster has said that VP players have to bite the bullet once in a while and throw some coin into a slot machine for just that reason.

You don't have a choice at Mount Airy. You can't use FP on VP games. After the slots eat my free play in seconds flat I usually run some of my own coin through for the hell of it just 'cause they earn more points than VP. My free play offers still drop. I'm an Onyx card level and use to get more FP when I was Bronze.

It would be kind of cool to change my strategy entirely and start off at Wheel of Fortune or some other fanciful slot, visions of sugarplums in my head. I have become so accustomed to the high conversion percentages of trusty JOB. I would like to throw caution to the wind for a week or two to see what happens. Worst Case Scenario: I get addicted to all the bells and whistles and become a slot junkie. I would probably find myself going insane chasing that lost loot from FP.

As a diversion I gave slots a try a few months ago.  I found it mind numbing and a lot like playing TDB without the jackpots.  What a total waste of money.   I'm normally a fairly lucky player, but those things are Jesse James in a can.  I don't care how much free play they gave me, I wouldn't play a regular slot even with Bob Dancer's money and that's saying something.

Thanks for the reality check. I need playable gaming. Those bandits are synonymous with long faces and abject misery. I can't see myself parking there.

I play 9/6 JB at Sams Town in Tunica. I put about $15,000 coin through a month and I get $5 FP a week. That's it nothing nothing more no free room offers. So I am going try Bobs advice and see if it works for me.

no free room offers.
That's pretty dismal.  Currently I'm running about $17,500  a month ($2.50 x 700/hr. x 10 hrs.) through the Tampa Hard Rock each month and I believe I average about $20 a week in free play and about $20 a week in comp dollars.  I get free rooms if I am flexible and book in advance.  Mississippi seems to be pretty tight with anything free these days.
Yes, Phil, but there's a big difference between what you get when you play a 99.5% game and a 98.9%. If you play the 99.66% games available at Tampa Hard Rock (according to vpFREE), you'd get smaller mailers too. Given your $17,500 in play, you're giving up an extra $60 a month or so in EV to the casino. For that, they give you better mailers. You say you can afford it and don't really care if you win or not, so fine. I have no beef with your game choice. But many of the other posters in this thread are actively trying to win. Why do you insist on giving advice to somebody who is more successful than you?If you were playing the better game --- and wanted to receive "decent" mailers --- playing your $20 in free play each week would take you less than a minute on penny slots. It might not be your favorite part of your gambling trip, but putting up with one minute of slots each week is hardly mind-numbing.You stand in lines at casinos much longer than that.
