I held my nose and played 8/5 JOB today at Tropicana. Fortunately I hit a max coin quad to come out $22 ahead on the machine, but it felt very uncomfortable. The only thing more uncomfortable was the 9/6 dollar JOB in the high roller room, as I had a small budget. Mostly min bets. I like the cozy relaxed environment. It feels clubby. One guy had his small dog on a seat. He was doing hand pay paperwork and the dog was barking. I guess if you're a high roller you can have a whole kennel along. I lost $22 in the room, which took the joy out of my quad. It came fairly quick. I trust the machine. I will simply bring a decent bankroll if I return! Good time overall apart from yet another craps collapse. Still battling this new effing addiction. I'm never even successful at it with super conservative play. Encore Caesars VP session was brutal with a $66 loss. Trying to make consecutive years RF there. The dream. I may have a better chance of pulling one off at Tropicana.

I'd rather see a dog next to me rather than a cigar. I tried to play at the casino nearest to my location once again and was chased off by cigar smokers. I can go to pretty much every casino in this area and don't run into the problem of cigar smoke, very offensive smell. I even tried an experiment to see how far away I had to get from one cigar smoker before I couldn't smell the far odor, I kept walking further away from the guy and couldn't understand why the smell was getting worse, turned around and there sat 2 more cigar smokers. I really like that casino but the cigar smoke is crazy, the previous time I was there the vp machines wee packed with players, no cigar smokers, a fat guy sits down a few machines away and lights a cigar, within minutes all the machines were empty. I think I would rather play next to guy with a rabid pit bull as opposed to a cigar smoker. I don't think Bob Dancer could finish ahead at any casino in this area, the offers aren't that great and the casinos don't really compete with each other, it's more of a race to the bottom around these parts. I used to take great pride in the fact that I always finished pretty close to the advertised pay tables for the game I played, some year a little below and others a little above. Now it's always the same, I find he best pay tables for the game I play 98.98%, use all my free play I can get and still end up around 95% pay back.

Cigar players are their own circle of hell. The dog was quite a new one on me. I would see many in the Showboat lobby, but never on the floor! What jarred me even more yesterday was the mega decibel slot machines across from the comfy slant top quarter VP. The recording kept belting a slew of eardrum splitting dopey chatter like "you can spin and win!" What a nightmare. All the more reason to bring Major Moola and sequester myself in the high limit room for a while.

We have one guy who likes to have the entire bank of machines to himself. What he does is break out the biggest and cheapest stink bomb of a cigar and light it up puffing furiously to set the stage. Most everyone leaves and his trick works. I was trying to think of a counter move since the machines he plays are the ones I like too and are not available in non smoking. I have a couple of choices. Not shower for a week and sit right next to him or douse myself with the cheapest cologne or perfume I can find and again sit right next to him. I think option 2 might be better, but might not work as well. I have notices over the year that for the most part cigar smokers fall into two categories. Fat older balding men or wanna be wise guys trying to act like the fat older balding men.

I'm a calm, passive lady but when I'm comfortably settled in and someone lights up a cigar I want to literally knock them out of their chair and start stomping. Nothing ruins a night more than one of these inconsiderate morons and one that frequents our casino sits down in the middle of us all and plays Keno! At 5 cents a bet! Aaargh! I can smell it for days.

FYI-  I too hate cigars and truly believe they should not be allowed at ALL in any public place.    They are NOT the same as cigarettes, not at all.      Pipes too, although they tend to not be as overwhelming. But here is some potential good news for those of you with the fortitude to actually do something about a blatant cigar chomper/smoker who wantonly stinks up a huge portion of the casino:      TALK TO THE MANAGEMENT, and do so with emotion, gusto and vigor.    Solicit other players around you for their support and opinion before doing so, so that when the time comes you can point to them as agreeing with you so you have more weight behind you complaint.I seen ithappen ONCE at RESORTS about 2 years ago......there was a gentleman in his 60s who lit up the fattest, stinkiest stogie I have ever encountered and within 3 minutes the odor permeated the ENTIRE FLOOR OF RESORTS< which is saying a lot!   I kid you not, it was HORRIBLE.    Finally one lady went to the table games pits and accosted two "suits" who then called down some other "suit" who then called down a woman who apparently outranked them all.    Long story short, the female casino executive politely but firmly told (not asked, TOLD) the man to get rid of the putrid cigar, as she said it was simply too overwhelming.    Amazingly, the guy actually ditched it without putting up much of a stink (no pun).        I'd be interested to see a case, though, where some HUGE player or high roller is involved, and how the casino would handle that.Bottom line though, it does not hurt to at least TRY and get the cigars extinguished, one way or another.

Casino cigar smokers are self centered A-holes.   In Florida it seems like every other person in a casino over 70 either has a cigarette hanging out of their mouth or an oxygen tank. Talking to management does nothing as Native Tribe casinos sell the things.  The closest I ever got to being in a real fight was when I told one of them off.  It would have been real interesting to see two old guys rolling on the floor.  These days I just move and come back later.

Never seen a dog in any casino, not sure why anyone would want to bring a dog either.

All of them are fat balding guys, I've had my share of run ins with a couple of them. On one occasion I was playing $2 DDB and the machine was hot, I had been playing the machine for about 2 hours and just kept hitting hands. There were few players that day and plenty of machines were open, the fat jerk sits at the machine right next to me and immediately lights up a cigar. Normally I wouldn't say a thing had he been there before me or the machine I was playing was doing nothing special, but this machine was handing money to me. Anyway, I ask the guy if it would be a problem for him not to smoke his cigar because I had some bad sinus problems and the cigar smoke really played havoc on me, I even added that I probably wouldn't be there much longer anyway. The guy was drunk as could be and said something I couldn't understand so I said, I'm sorry I didn't hear you. I thought his reply was a little funny at first because he said, damn shame you got messed up sinuses and you can't hear but I ain't puttin my f***** cigar out. Several things ran across my mind as to how I should handle this situation but my maturity got the best of me and I didn't knock him out of his seat, instead I just cashed out of the machine and said, sir I hope you have a nice day. Since that time I too have wondered ways to keep cigar smokers away but haven't come up with a good idea.

We've tried that before and management just apologized and said there really wasn't much they felt they could do. We even told them that they had to notice all the players scramble away when someone lit up a cigar and they admitted it had been discussed as to what they could do but they didn't have a solution as of yet.
