Who does one believe? Comparing results from the 'Test Your Skills' feature on this site with results from the 'analyze any hand' feature in the Winpoker-Dancer-Zamzow software produces different "Correct Holds".
Following are just four hands which I found that differ. The underscore represents cards to hold: (Dbl Dbl Bonus)
VidPkr.com KC KS 8S AC AS
Winpoker KC KS 8S AC AS
VidPkr.com 6H 7C 8D 3D 10H (none)
Winpoker 6H 7C 8D 3D 10H
VidPkr.com QS 6S 5S 4H AH
Winpoker QS 6S 5S 4H AH
VidPkr.com 7S 3C AH 8H JC
Winpoker 7S 3C AH 8H JC
Conclusion: save your money or try the lottery!
Learning correct strategy

The WinPoker holds above maximize the expected value if you are playing 9/6 Double Double Bonus Poker. The holds identified above as VidPkr.com holds maximize the expected value if you are playing 9/6 Jacks or Better. I'm guessing that these two games were confused somehow in making the comparisons.
But I do think it is a good idea to save your money and sometimes to try the lottery.

I think this example emphasizes the point that understanding paytables is the number one requirement for a good VP player. Making the above error in a real casino will cost a player real money. This is how one becomes a video poker loser.

I am FINALLY understanding the difference in
strategy charts or "correct holds". Some are more in-depth, but
easier for the average person to make a mistake. Others are simpler, (less
chance of getting a paying hand) but less chance of making a mistake and
loosing money. I thought that there were differences in strategy charts at
the same level of play, but they seem to be the same the more I look at them. I
am not a math wiz, so I guess I can say that this is my opinion not fact!!
Anyone out there that is a math wiz jump in!!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "level of play". If you mean denomination then you are right, ther strategy is the same for all denominations. However, there are various strategies changes depending on how "perfect" you want to play. These "levels of play" are often called beginner, intermediate and advanced. The strategy changes here can improve the payback at the expense of simplicity. This gets into penalty cards, etc. In general, advanced play only improves the payback by .1% or less.

When I said level of play I meant "how perfect" can one play. I am
intermediate and at advanced play I have to work too hard(looking at
the strategy card all the time) and it takes the fun out of it for me.
It is nice to hear that the difference is only .1%. Thank you shadowman!

The .1% is about the worst it gets. For most games this value is much less ... closer to .02-.03%. My own personal take on this is to learn the strategy that works for you and then look at improvements one at a time. This way it's much easier to incorporate them than trying to learn them all at once.
I believe strongly in that simplicity is very important. So, going too far in learning advanced strategies can cause mistakes that cost more than the minimal gains available. In any event, we all have different preferences and not everyone will be alike.

Conclusion: save your money or try the lottery!AKA... save your time and post elsewhere? What are you hoping to achieve here, vidpokerlooser? You obviously aren't interested in the game so why spend your time analyzing it and hanging out on a site about it where people come for enjoyment? If you don't have anything positive to contribute to people's experience here then please instead post in the "Other Casino Games" subforum where you can discuss what you DO enjoy playing.http://www.videopoker.com/forum/forum_t ... ID=4Thanks.

Sounds like you need to get yourslf some Dancer strategy cards. They help me win almost all the time, I am sure they could help you cure your loosing ways in a hurry.

What is the expected return on your dollar for a typical lottery just curious? Any example is fine.
