I now will be in AC  this week, May 5 (thursday)  through May 11.......Jeter, this means, if you are there at harrahs THIS thursday MAY 5  I will make time to stop in at Harrahs and see you......I do not know if you are aware but several of Harrahs restaurants are having some sort of ALL YOU CAN EAT  special menus during the period of  MAy 2  through May 12.Since May 5 is a well known Mexican Holiday, I may check out the mexican food establishment in Harrhas, Dos Caminos (they are one of the restaurants with the special menus and prices this week!     Harrahs "the Steakhouse" is also on the promo with an ALL YOU CAN EAT PRIME RIB special that sounds pretty good too.....Either way, to Jeter and anyone else, I will be in AC during this time......

I'll be there. All you can eat prime rib could be interesting.

I have been banned from every All You Can Eat venue east of the Mississippi, but this sounds like a good time. Have fun on the 5th!

I have to be honest.....I am not a big fan of ALL YOU CAN EAT venues and themes......I have been a vocal critic of the fact that America is a victim of its own excess in that our population is so grossly overweight in general, to the point where the very WELL BEING of the nation is at risk with 1/2 of the people being overwieght and 1/3 being MORBIDLY OBESE....the long term implications of these facts are troubling to say the least, not the least of which is the HEALTHCARE costs associated with such absurd body weight / BMI issues....Already this country has a huge number of diabetics, but can you imagine what will come to pass if these numbers remain the same or get worse?    I cannot fathom the situation of 100 MILLION diabetics in this country, but that is where we are heading.....this would literally KILL the US economy, and it is totally UNSUSTAINABLE.      HENCE, my discomfort with the typical "ALL YOU CAN EAT" obscene spectacle you typically find at all American Casinos, where the vast majority of the fare is not particularly healthy (even the salad bars are over run with dressings that are FULL OF FAT, Salt, and (believe it or not) LOADS OF SUGAR!    All you have to do is look around you in any Vegas or AC casino to notice the impact this has on the typical clientele.      Sorry if that offends anyone, but if it does, its time to ask yourself "Do I need to eat better and take care of myself better, because this is TOTALLY IN MY CONTROL and up to me!"Aside from that, my other biggest issue with ALL YOU CAN EAT GLUTTONY FESTIVALS is simply the so called "VALUE" is really a overblown mirage......if we can forget for a moment that often when we eat a buffet in a casino it is comp'd (because we have LOST a sufficient amount to justify the casino giving us the buffet for "FREE"), the fact is that I myself can realistically  ONLY eat a certain amount of food before I feel stuffed, and eating anything beyond that simply because "it is allowed and that I feel obligated to get my moneys worth" is NOT what I call VALUE ADDED activity.    What I mean by this, is that normally I can (and do)  eat ONE plate of food when I have a meal.   When I pay for a buffet (either directly or indirectly) I STILL typically only can eat one plate full of food....even if I stuff and fill that first plate full to the brim when I visit a buffet, that is usually ALL I can and do eat.     Hence, the "value" of the buffet is just not there for me......The ONLY part of a buffet that I like is the obvious VARIETY of food types and choices usually available,,,,,but even here they sacrifice QUALITY to attain this variety, and often much of the food choices are lousy when you taste them.     Sure, there are exceptions, especially in VEGAS where some casino Buffets have top notch quality food,  but at such places, you are going to PAY FOR IT one way or another.    However, one buffet choice I am partial to, and the one where I am LIKELY to enjoy, are BREAKFAST BUFFETS.  They are usually priced very VALUE conscious, and for my own diet and beliefs, with Breakfast being the most important meal, I am OK with pigging out for breakfast simply because you now have the rest of the day to burn it off, plus breakfast foods tend to NOT be the unhealthy fare often seen at other meals (pastry and donuts not withstanding, and I personally do not eat THAT CRAP....not regualarly and not in huge quantitites)    Plus it is a known fact, people who EAT a breakfast, ANY BREAKFAST, receive dietary and metabolic benefits that greatly enhance long term weight management and health.   So do not skip breakfast, and use your free buffet options at the casinos for breakfast!

So far today, DB has given us an unnecessary history lesson and now another tirade on if he got his way, would just eliminate another freedom, because some abuse it, the buffet.

No one said Bush did not make mistakes, simply the press covers obama differently. They cover all conservatives differently.

And, because there are a bunch of fat people in the world, the rest of us should lose the right to go to visit a buffet. There are folks who are addicted to gambling and those who are addicted to the internet, let's get rid of both. How about personal responsibility!

The forum is itself a buffet. Take what you want, leave the rest alone.

Um yeah how about that, personal responsibility?    I finally figured out your whole approach, stick your head in the sand ....tell me, what would you do (or tell) the millions and millions of americans who are crushing the healthcare system with their (over) weighty issues???   I totally agree, people SHOULD have the self control to not overeat, or to get out and move their lard arses, and thus lead healthier, less costly lives!    What the hell do you think I am talking about?!?!?!Oh I know, by me pointing out that we are a collective nation of fat, overweight gluttons it conflicts with the preferred "conservative" view that our healthcare costs are due to "illegals" and minorities on the "public dol"......sorry, but nothing could be further from the truth.  edited to add:  and I never said to "do away" with the ....lol..."freedom" of Buffets, I just expressed MY OPINION of them.     I must  have missed that part in all those government classes I took, about our inalienable AMERICAN right to pig out and eat ourselves into oblivion......
