WTG DB....by the way, the Mrs. and I plan an overnight on the 7th this Thurs. We will be with friends at the Ct Sun game too and also should be around at least a part of Fri morning. Thought I would mention it on the outside chance that you would be there. If not, I will be hitting level 3 soon at Mohegan and shifting most of my play to Foxwoods to see if I can break the Royalless streak there. Don't know who, what, where, when or why yet though and as usual all depends on how dad is doing. God bless him. Just turned 92 and a proud WW11 vet.
I would hope in this day and age that casino security would not let anyone walk around with a backpack.Pffft, why ?   does this happen to be an issue in the casinos you frequent?......Sometimes in AC the casinos have tried to make everyone with a travel bag, or oversizes napsack  check it in,  but back packs and other carry items that are smaller than a certain size are difficult to force people to part with......many times they are simply the personal equivalent of a woman's handbag, with items like laptops or other electronic items, or a notepad or food or medical supplies/medication (many diabetics these days carry around lots of stuff, as do other people with other involved medical conditions.)I myself have often wheeled around AC casinos, waiting either to check in or to catch my bus, with my travel duffle bag that goes with me every trip that fits perfectly and balances perfectly on my lap and wheelchair....this bag is often quite full of my 5-7 days worth of "Stuff" I bring....and yet I have never had it questioned or taken away or otherwise forced to check it!
There is no reason to carry a backpack in a casino then there is at an NFL, MLB, NBA or other sporting event where they are prohibited in venues. As I said, this day and age. Remember the Boston Marathon a few years ago. Enough said.

The short version is stationed in Virginia and played in the army band for the troops. Met personally all of the famous entertainers of the day. Met mom there. She had a civilian clerical job processing German prisoners. I think I already posted her story about the SS officer who pulled the blade from his lapel and tried to either kill himself or one more American. He was still in uniform. When we meet, I can fill you in some more. One more quick one....Rude Valle used to buy a case of beer for the band after his performance. He would then come around in person later to collect the empties for the deposit on the bottles. Red Skelton cracked up the band so much they couldn't even play. As we speak watching some great WW2 history shows on TV now.

There is no reason to carry a backpack in a casino then there is at an NFL, MLB, NBA or other sporting event where they are prohibited in venues. As I said, this day and age. Remember the Boston Marathon a few years ago. Enough said.I do not understand the comparison of a 2 hour sporting event or game  to spending several hours to several DAYs inside a modern day Hotel/Casino resort......there are indeed MANY reasons why people carry things like bags and backpacks and other similar items around with them.......Now I agree with you in this sense:Obviously, if an individual is walking around a Casino acting suspiciously and is carrying something, or is otherwise indicating a threat or problem, then absolutely, you stop them and ask to search them, or better yet, escort their arse off the premises (although again, if....IF they are a threat, you are too late even in this action!)      BUT...... the ONLY real way to have any real security and a reasonable level of certainty you can stop these nuts is at the door, BEFORE they enter (the casino, hotel, school, hospital, etc etc)....But what do you think THAT will do to casinos and attendance, and how will it be greeted by the people it inconveniences?Edited to add:  Here is one last point to ponder:   BACK when there was a brief period in AC (around 2013 right after the aforementioned Boston Marathon tragedy) when security (at least at Caesars Properties) would tell people who were carrying bags or backpacks to "Check them at the Bell desk", the same dilemma existed!  If...IF that person and their "item"  was indeed a threat, what result do you think approaching them in such a manner would ultimately have?    Furthermore, when you do check them at the Bell desk, what then?   DO the Bell desk guys then rummage and rifle through everyone's luggage and bags and stuff that they check in?    I don't think so!!!   No one would stand for that very long either.....These questions and dilemmas are exactly why the brief policy at Caesars was ultimately discontinued and people once again could walk around with bags and stuff.
