Overeating makes me fat, doesn't hurt the health of my neighboring players like smoking does. Unfortunately non-smoking areas for video poker are usually limited in the number of games/machines available, so the non-smoker is often "forced" to play next to our smoking video-poker brothers and sisters. A little consideration is all I ask.

It's getting harder and harder for "us" smokers to go on vacation anywhere - Hotels are switching to non smoking. That being said, if I find a hotel that accepts me as a smoker and my money.. and I want to gamble in that hotels casino - I am going to light up - don't sit near me and wave your hand and cough. I will scout the casino for machines that I like - then scout the area for ashtrays - then scout for either a couple of empty seats or one open seat near a smoker - If you choose to sit next to me - don't complain.

the best way to avoid any ill effects of second hand smoke, stay out of the smoking areas.

in the case of tampa, there is a large n/s area and the games I play are the same. in AC, the majority of VP space is allocated to n/s. yet, non smokers keep coming to the limited smoking area and complaining.

WE are still not playing as there is very limited non-smoking areas at AZ casinos (some don't have any) and the games available are not favorites of ours. Regarding parking, all that I am familiar with have free parking.

I think everyone should have the right to sit anywhere they wish, but I don't think anyone has the right to do something that physically assaults other people.   If smoking didn't smell, make people cough or foul the air with poisonous toxins, it would not be an issue.  Today's smokers are in the minority as the smoking generation is quickly dying off.  Instead of having a small non smoking area, casinos should have a smoking section in a room where all the smokers can poison each other and no one else.   It's your right as a smoker to ruin your own health, it's not your right to ruin mine.I have genuine personal empathy for smokers.  I watched my own mother die from emphysema gasping for air and screaming in panic as the paramedics took her away.  I warned her years before that the doctors told me she would die if she didn't quit.  There wasn't a thing they could do for her and she died before they got her to the hospital.  One of our best friends is fighting lung cancer.  They can't operate because the cancer is wrapped around his aorta.  He will choke to death on his own blood when the cancer breaks through.   No one should die that way, especially at his/her own hand.  Sad...

you still will not answer the question, why don't the n/s at tampa, including yourself, play in the n/s section?

[/quote]Because the non smoking machines are all standup machines.  They moved all the sit down machines to the smoking area.  This makes a difference when you are older.

the last time I was there and seen this before, the stand up machines in smoking were full, but the stand up machines in n/s were empty. I know this because I played in the n/s section.

so, all those who are so bothered by the smoke and so concerned about their health, are willing to put themselves in harm's way, so they can play the table top machines.

when I have gone to caesars AC, the smoking section on the first floor is always mobbed, yet just a few feet away, sits a large number of n/s smoking machines, with few people playing. the best paying DDB machines at Cherokee are in the n/s section. I play there often, few others are there. when I used to play every month at the taj, it was hard to get a seat in smoking, but n/s not a problem.

I don't think you should have to choose between being comfortable or being poisoned. Like I said before, if smoking didn't affect others it wouldn't be an issue.  It does and it needs to be done where others aren't affected.
