say it ain't so right. If I was to invest money in that place, if I thought I was keeping it opened, would have been redoing all the rooms. Didn't hear that was going on. They really needed it based on all the bad reviews.

Icahn says he lost $100m in the last 18 months. truth, who knows.

there will only be 7 casinos left, likely need to lose a few more.

I hope those newly unemployed 3000 planned for this, where are they going to find jobs, especially in this business. any new casinos built in NJ would take years to come to fruition. in the meantime, a bunch of houses will come to market, depressing prices, the tax base will shrink again.

I may not think much of trump, but it sure was a good idea for any of those who got out years ago, to do so.

casinos used to be thought of as recession proof, there goes that theory. AC may have had some new challenges over the past years, but this is what can happen, if consumers do not feel they are getting value for their money.

Moment of silence when I saw the news last night. Sad sight those strikers. I felt like they were waving off into the sunset, and here we are. There goes my cozy lounge on the north end where I could simply relax, and that nice food court. But that was about it. It was a colossal waste of space.

Do union members have an avenue to recall their elected leaders prior to a scheduled election? What would happen if the union membership pushed for new leadership that could possibly have prevented this?

Edited to add: I'm not totally laying all of the fault at the feet of the union but to me it seems as if they were the less willing party to bargain in good faith and do what is best for their membership. The idea was to save and spare jobs, not to shutter the casino. Oh well....

I love how that Union "leader", McDeavitt says ICahn is taking it "personally".....go back and look at what he has said about, and To Icahn over the last year!    He basically classified Icahn as the equivalent of the Evil Emperor from Star Wars along with a few other unsavory things. Those strikers on the Boardwalk were led down the path of destruction by this Union leadership, who really only care about their own positions which pay HUGE salaries and come with lots of perks and influence.   Union leaders achieve executive level status and salaries climbing the ranks of the Union, and when they get there they tend to be just as self centered and self interested as the Big wigs they criticize......PEOPLE are all the same. The real truth of this matter though is this:  1)  While the UNION's strike and unrealistic position on the benefits at TAj may have HASTENED this closing, it did not by itself bring it on......this was going to happen by the end of this year anyway, once NJ adopts casinos in the NORTHERN portion (which it will.)    But they could have at least had another 4-6 months.     2)   The company management both immediately before icahn bought the TAJ, and the months after it, continued to pay its executives and managers absurd salaries and bonuses despite the Taj's abysmal track record the last 2-3 years.   THIS is the main issue the Union and its workers had in originating their anger and contempt. And the undeniable fact rife in today's American Business Climate is that executive and management compensation, mirroring the HUGE divide in wealth in society, is totally out of bounds and out of proportion to what the people doing most of the work now earn.......this has been an ongoing and worsening issue for the last 15 years!Even Trump gets this one issue right when he rails against and about the obscene amounts of money executives make (especially wall street & hedge fund managers....)I'm going to miss Roberts Steakhouse.

Low Roller Reaction: I'm going to miss the food court. Even if the union took the deal, I guess that would have kicked the can four months down the road. I despise the idea of northern NJ casinos, but the dye is cast.
