How good are you at 9/6 Triple Double Bonus? Quiz

Post by alpax »

Not as interactive as Test Your Skills challenge on this website, this is for those that play Triple Double Bonus. The 9/6 payschedule is much more common than the full pay variant 9/7, but I still would not imagine a wise player with a limited bankroll willing to play it.

If you hold trip aces along with the kicker as well as answer at least 15 of these scenarios correctly, you are a good TDB player, but luck will determine your short run rate (2 million hands).

Please no cheating, you can practice elsewhere before taking these hands.

Thanks Sea Lion for attempting to giving it a shot. I thought 9/6 TDB would be like approaching 9/6 DDB except for holding a kicker with trip Aces or 2/3/4, but I was wrong. Good that you got #20 right. I took half of the hands from the strategy charts, and the rest were penalty situations.

The ones that also applies to 9/6 DDB
6 (4 to a straight flush beats any pair)
11 16 and 18

TDB Errors
3 (strategy chart)
4 (penalty situation)
5 (The toughest one out of the bunch)
8 (penalty situation)
9 (strategy chart)
10 (penalty situation)
17 (strategy chart)
19 (strategy chart)

I think I did badly on this. Fortunately most of these don't cost a lot.

I admit I got errors on more than half of these since I do not touch TDB with a 10 foot pole. These are from the list I missed on Intermediate and Hard difficulty setting on Video Poker for Winners. I thought I could get away with using 9/6 DDB which I know it well and its penalty situations, but it does not apply as smoothly. I put 10 of them from the strategy charts and the others from the penalty chart.

I guess what I am trying to get at is when players switch from DDB to TDB, its not as seamless as I thought it would be so I created this quiz.

At least you got #20 right which is the most important, #5 is the least important. Overall I think you did well, mistakes were not painful.

Incorrect Answers:

5 (hardest penalty situation)
8 (penalty situation)
9 (on strategy charts)
10 (penalty situation)
15 (on strategy charts)
16 (same as 9/6 DDB)
18 (same as 9/6 DDB)
19 (on strategy charts)

Thanks for trying.

I thought holding a kicker greatly reduces your chance of drawing the 4th ace.

I thought holding a kicker greatly reduces your chance of drawing the 4th ace.

It does make it half as likely, but when you do hit, it pays five times as much as aces with no kicker.
