Re: Taj Mahal EXACT SHUTDOWN DATE SET

Has anyone been able to book comped rooms at The Taj for early October, through your host or otherwise? I've haven't been there since the strike started, but now that it's fate seems to be sealed, I would like to have a trip or two to pay my respects and to enjoy some earned comps. October is not available to book online and when I phoned them, they said to try again later. I don't really want to bother my host with this, it's not like I'll be giving him much play!

As regards offers from other casinos, I suspect Tropicana will actively pursue former Taj premium players to play at Trop, and as a Chairman and Borgata Black, I would hope to see some nice offers come my way.

Then again, I was a decent level player at Revel when it closed and expected some offers from other casinos then, but it looks like someone is still sitting on that player list! :(

They are supposedly closing Oct 10th. If you want to go before then call your host. I can't imagine you won't get a room!

The joint must be so damn packed these days! I should go over and give it a gander from Resorts for curiosity.

Listen up people, this is the voice of experience talking based on past RECENT casino closures in AC, starting with the AC club (formerly Hilton) shuttering in January 2014....if you are going to use up, clear out, or otherwise "milk" what's left of your Taj Mahal Chairman or Signature Status accounts, DO IT SOONER rather than later.....like NOW.......do NOT wait until the last 10 days in OCTOBER, in fact, I would not even plan on staying (or playing) at the TAJ past September 28 (wednesday)......Why?When it gets within 2 weeks of shutdown, a hotel/casino and all its stores, shops and restaurants start doing things like running out of all kinds of stuff (because obviously there is no need to reorder), the staff/employees really start to show it in their attitudes (I'm not saying EVERYONE of the employees is this way or will be this way, but you'd be silly to expect even moderately good service or anything except the bare minimum of functionality.)    The casino, about 10  to 14 days before closing, will cease using the TITO machines and force everyone to utilize the casino CAGE for cash outs and redemptions (this may in fact actually be a NJ regulation, I don't know)......this is, and will be, actually a real pain in the arse for anyone still trying to really play and enjoy the casino games!     Anyone who has been through, or recalls, the closures at AC Club in January 2014, followed by Trump Plaza and Showboat in September 2014, will recall the long, frustrating lines as people who otherwise were just there to get in a final few rounds, hands, spins or plays of <insert favorite game here> were annoyed to find that they had to wait 15-20 minutes, or LONGER, to redeem tickets worth only 50-60 bucks or cashout their 80 dollars in chips, or whatever their final "goodbye" buy-in bankroll was worth.   And of course, you can be sure that the casino will do everything in their power to DRAGGGG it out, make it as slowwwww as possible, etc.     I'll never forget the AC CLUB's second to last day, the casino cage line actually stretched across the casino floor out into the checkin lobby!!!!    Their cage had at least 15 possible slots and they only had 4, maybe five, MAX working at any one time......its obvious what they are doing, and who can really blame them given the fact that "THIS IS IT!"USing up things like comp dollars, and slot dollars you are obviously better off doing it NOW, ASAP......along with running out of stuff or food, there is always a sick, twisted chance that a property about to become extinct just up and says  "SORRY, we are no longer honoring or accepting or redeeming.......etc etc etc blah blah...."       I hope this is unlikely and would never happen, but someone try and tell the community at large that, with a property like the TAJ, with its warped, twisted and pathetic history,   would NEVER EVER try and "screw" even a few people if there really were no consequences.....I am going to the TAJ for at least two, probably three nights before AUgust ENDS, and I will be clearing out EVERYTHING......then, the only thing left for me is to utilize the free  rooms I have for September (along with any FREE play or anything else they just happen to choose to still honor and offer), and I will be staying September 16 for 2 nights, and then September 20 for 2 nights......when I check out September 22, that will be GOODBYE forever, with 18 days still to go before the property flatlines.I will NOT be playing any games at the TAJ except with their money.....only the measly 50 or so slot dollars I get per week on average at the TAJ will be played by me in these twilight hours of the property.

They are supposedly closing Oct 10th. If you want to go before then call your host. I can't imagine you won't get a room! Normally I'd agree Boops......when properties that have been around a long time shutter, there usually is a lot of effort by people to get one last stay or visit, and every effort by management to get people in is also executed......the TAJ certainly is big enough, with all those rooms in BOTH towers!  (what a waste to see it fold huh?)But In the case of the TAJ MAHAL they are currently embroiled in that still absurdly unresolved strike, eight?!?!?!?   The property is still short staffed and they are STILL using (and obviously WILL continue to use) replacements and scabs in virtually ALL kinds of positions and departments right up until they finally shutter on October 10......in my mind therefore, I would think they are compelled to work well under full or maximum capacity for this (and other reasons) ......Then again, who knows.....I find it laughbaly ironic that properties that close often find their final weeks completely SOLD OUT or nearly so, filled to brim with people wanting to "Say goodbye" or whatever the flip sentimentality overtakes them!     Unbelievable,,,,,,All I know is I would not want to potentially be checking in 3 or 4 nights before the FINAL night!    What things, or corners, are likely to be cut, or flat out ignored and bypassed?!?!?

So DaBurglar are you going to swipe a few towels and the coffeemaker from your room then? How about ripping one of those cheap paintings off the wall? Milk it for all you can, stuff the iron into your rucksack, rip the telephone book in half (using your massive arms of course), and don't forget to leave 5 bucks a day for the maid..... Don't forget to hit the lights before you leave.

I'm going to hoverboard across the entire second floor while eating a White House Sub. Let loose the dogs of war. TL, pretty hilarious I must admit!
