Re: Taj Mahal EXACT SHUTDOWN DATE SET

Going this weekend. We will spend all our comp dollars. Hoping to play our favorite games in Sultans Palace We are also booked for Labor day Weekend. As it gets closer I will check in with my host to see if its worth going.

So sad ot see her close-we are going there for 20+ years. Please tell us how this past weekend was for you BOOPS, and what if anything you noticed or learned that would be useful for those of us about to follow you and stay at the TAJ  in its final days.......I'm anxious to know if know if BOTH towers are still operating, and what the mood and mindset of the employees is.......Are the Local 54 Strikers still picketing?   I worried that, with nothing at all left to lose and with the strikers NOW totally Pizzz'd off at both The TAJ MAHal Management  and their own Union leadership, a few wayward strikers might actually do something really crazy and harmful and guests like You and me would probably get caught in the crossfire! In addition to my Mid September Stay (September 16 thru 20), I also have a short stay during August,  specifically August 29 thru 31........My plan is to use up most of everything in AUGUST 29-31, and then for my September swan song i am simply going to use TAJ as a base for gambling elsewhere and to hopefully set myself up with a new "Primary casino", from which i will base most of my future trips and stays in and around......I am thinking Goldent Nugget or Harrahs ....I am also anxious to see what if anything the other AC properties offer former Taj Mahal Players in terms of incentive to come and play with and for them!!!!

There were approx. 5 strikers. I didn't see them interact with any guests. We used Valet and very nice replacement workers there. Kato, the guy that checks us in is very upset-as are other employees (non-union I guess) that the strike is causing the place to close.

My husband and I both commented on how the replacement workers were as nice as and even nicer than the originals. The operators are all so professional.

Both towers looked to be open. We went straight to the stores to spend our comp dollars. Trump exchange barely had anything. I bought a bunch of stuff at the clothing store and then we hit the new liquor place. (I feel sorry for them, they just opened!. We hot some good tequilas and vodka and I got cigars for one of my nephews for Christmas.

During the whole shopping spree there's an alarm going off and announcements that they were checking it out. We didn't realize that this meant the elevators automatically shut down and there we are with al our purchases and no way to get to our room.

Luckily we were able to check everything at the bell desk till they restored the elevators.

Rooms were clean. Soap, shampoo, glasses (well plastic cups) and the room was ready when we got there.

We ate at Il Mulinos. Mussels, calamari and ravioli. Very good. All the workers as sad that they are closing and are wondering where they will go. Dynasty is closed as well as plate, Signature club, and room service. Roberts and the new bigger newspaper place on the ground floor is open.

Oh also the little place on CF that has premade sandwiches and salads was open as well as Starbucks, Hard Rock (packed) and the Chairman's Cub.. Anything else we didn't notice.

They installed about 30 new video slots-maybe more-spread out throughout the casino. What a shame

We had fun but lost. We went to Resorts for a little bit but lost there.

We will be back for Labor Day weekend. We kept a few hundred comp dollars just in case LOL

As an aside, they cancelled the rolling duffel give away but if you clicked on it in the kiosk, they gave you $15 bucks. Better than nothing

Wow, thanks a lot Boops.......seriously, I really appreciate the effort and the detail you provided on this incredibly sad chapter in the History of Atlantic City.I really am depressed now, reading how all the non union workers are upset, and that they really are blaming the UNION for causing the final, ultimate crash that caused Mr.Icahn to pull the plug.....I honestly do not know any longer who or what to believe or BLAME......from what I can tell,  Icahn and his toadie Mr. Tony Rodeo  are indeed blaming the Local 54 Taj chapter for being so obnoxiously inflexible that they "Blocked the only viable pathway to profitability".....but we all know that the TAJ has been a money pit for a long long time well before Icahn showed up, and that the coming November New jersey referendum on moving gambling up north to the densely populated NYC borderlands  is really the thing that Icahn was dreading and fretting about......I think he saw a way to simply cut his losses without the long drawn out theatrics that would have followed a November initiative to expand gambling to Newark.....YOU KNOW they are going to do it (approve gaming in the north) because they are (1) desperate  (2) Inept and incompetent  (3) and most importantly, there are some well hidden interests (i,e,  rich people and/or rich companies) who are pulling the strings behind the scenes to make gambling a reality in the Northern New jersey region.....that is how these things go, that is how this country in general now works.....the UBER wealthy pull off one coup after another, all the while the general public has NO clue or awareness of who it is and how they are doing what they doing....until it is all over, and too late.

We went to Resorts for a little bit but lost there.--------------------------------------------------------------LOL. Abandon all hope ye that enter. That money pit swallows bankrolls whole! I dropped by for their promo and won a pair of sunglasses. I immediately donned them to dim the tempting VP and lit out for the boardwalk! Peace out, Pit! Did you see any waitresses? I was there yesterday with no sightings. What is going on?

I hung out in the high limit room, assuming there would be a sighting there. On my way out, I asked a guard whether CWs were working. He assured me they were, but I found no visual evidence. I don't know whether to keep my September 24 contest entries. The whales will bury them in the barrel with their piles, and I must hang around for the duration regardless. It's another promo designed to reward the hard core regulars.

The link says "the page no longer exists." Ironically mirroring Taj in weeks.

Well it said at the meeting to discuss the closure the union made a counter offer and Taj said no we are closing. Well we will see. They will probably stay open because I spent most of my comp dollars
