I can't recommend these enough.
Before Bob Dancer, I was the proverbial 98 pound weakling.
Getting bullied by casinos, playing bad paytables and believing in voodoo- hot machines and streaks. After Bob , I attract hot women and just last week my football team clinched a playoff berth.

Bump.
Even if you are only in town for a week, you really should try to attend at least one of these classes. Even if it's not a game you normally play, he will help your overall game.

Thanks for vouching these seminars billryan.

Mr. Dancer has said a few times in the past that first time class attendees of various skill levels can learning something.

Now THIS is what the "beginners" should pay attention to.

While I have never attended one of his classes, I have read most of his books numerous times and I enjoy his radio show.   You can listen to them at www.bobdancer.com/radio .  I also believe beginning players would benefit from his classes.  Learning perfect hand strategy will definitely help your game.  You will never match computer calculated hands with hunches, guess work or superstitions.  I believe that discovery alone is his greatest contribution to the game. What I would be interested in attending would be a class on "comps".  I believe Bob Dancer is a master of that universe.  Numerous Vegas columnists have made the same observation.  I doubt he would reveal everything he knows as he would likely want to keep them for himself and I don't blame him one bit.As a side note, if you are serious about video poker and have never played at South Point... go there and do it.  We played there last summer and couldn't believe the odds and the comps.  Compared to what's available in the East, it's almost like they are paying you to play.

I think the class that will be of great benefit to you is

March 29     12:00PM     What Video Poker Players Should Know About Slot Clubs     One Class Only

It might be worth the cost of the flight alone just to attend that if you have nothing planned 2 months from now.

Half of the courses mentioned is available nationwide outside of Las Vegas as well including the East Coast, so Mr. Dancer makes it worthwhile for out-of-town players as well.

Mr. Dancer has also stated he was able to succeed in playing video poker in 6 different states, and Vegas is located in Nevada which only counts for 1 state.

Mr. Dancer utilizes the radio show as a key to get into the circle of professional gambling for his benefit and to learn something from how others do their "thing". A good amount of episodes relate to live poker and blackjack which is too complex for my interest.

I might add all of those games are negative expectation games, thus the last course is the key...

Thanks for the tip.  I believe the key to unlocking VP profits is in the comps.  In the short amount of time we have been taking advantage of them, we have benefited.  Before that we saw comps as some free play and a glass of wine.  Everything changed for us when we discovered small time players can earn comps too and some have real value to us.   We also learned there are significant differences between casino offerings.  Right now our casino of choice offers good odds and generous comps.  Nothing near what's offered in Vegas or to high rollers, but good enough to keep us as steady customers.

Class was packed today, Literally standing room only for beginners class. About half stayed for the advanced class.
South Point has a great promo right now. .3 cash back plus for every $2,000 you play, you get a spin that awards $14 on average. It could be as little as $7.50 or as much as $50. Some spins give cash, some give free play. Positive even from the get go.

You are very welcome. It will be up to you to value that course if you want to understand how Mr. Dancer overcomes the odds that are against him. You still have much to learn and it will be a good time to play good VP odds again. If you do not make it, you will forever hold your peace.

As far as your assessment of Vegas in terms of comps, it is not completely accurate. Comps have been reduced for video poker players in general and the players that have a fortunate result of winning records have been restricted from getting comps.

The Southpoint has good odds, but for high rollers looking to play $5, $10, $25 denomination single line games? They will only find 97% games in the high limit room.

I do not know how people react around you in real life if you just assume everything. I am certain the forum members have reacted in a way I think will happen.

Wow, good to hear that the interest levels are high.

I think the attendees should have stayed for the advanced class unless they had other plans. I do not think basic Jacks or Better will be suffice for people to have success in VP, but the promotion going on that day is the real deal. Mr. Gaughan knows to vary up the promotions where either many people win little or a few people win big.

[quote=alpax]I do not know how people react around you in real life if you just assume

Furthermore, the idea that any intelligent person would dump hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars into a slot machine thinking they can beat it is even more ridiculous.   If I don't post, this forum sits there and does nothing.  At least you have to admit I keep it lively.   Lets have a vote.  If the majority of the posting members feel I should leave the forum, I will.  I enjoy the forum, but I could easily find something else to occupy my time and energy.   If Bob Dancer can do it, I can too.
