Split card poker question
While playing split card poker Deuces Bonus earlier today I was dealt the following:Ten, [Q/K] (split card), Deuce, Jack, junk card. The Ten through King were all clubs, so I had four to a Royal with one deuce to make it a dealt Wild Royal. I was racking my brain on whether to hold the Wild Royal and leave one spot open for the Ace of Clubs, or toss the deuce for two spots. I wound up just holding the Wild Royal and didn't see the Ace on any of the ten hands. Was that the correct play?

I did study Split Card Poker on DDB for three weeks, but this is Bonus DW. Anyhow, breathe a huge sigh of relief. You made the correct play although it would have been nice to get an Ace.
There are 47 remaining cards, and only one (the Ace of Clubs) would have improved the hand to a Royal Flush
[46 Wild Royal Flush * 125 + 1 Natural Royal Flush * 4000] / 47 Total Combinations = 207.45 Credits Average Return
If you threw the Deuce away, there are about 46 combinations to get a Natural Royal and 132 combinations to get a Wild Royal (at least one Deuce). The 9 of spades gives you a Straight Flush, there are 42 combinations of that
46 * 4000 + 132 * 125 + 42 * (45 or 60) + Drop off is huge with Flushes (15) , Straights (5), 3 of a Kinds (5)
When you have 2 cards out of 47, there are 1081 combinations. So the EV I estimate is around 192 credits (with the Royal Flush and Wild Royal making up about 185 of the return).

Thanks Alpax. Good to know I made the right play mathematically.

You are welcome AD. I advise that Split Card Poker should only be played if you want to see a monster hand quickly, there is no other added benefit besides that. The slightest play errors can be very costly, and Split Cards are rarely discarded.
I do like the game's concept, but I wish the feature was more like 7 credits instead of 10.
Good luck to your future play!

Agreed Alpax. I played this at Casino Fandango in Carson City during the short time they had it. Watched my $100 go very quickly to about $30 on 5-play nickels before I was lucky enough to catch one AWAK on TDB. Didn't play it again after that and the game was removed not long afterward.
