Bought a VP machine today.

Post by billryan »

I was at an estate sale, looking for gold and silver when I came across a roomful of slots and VP machines. Ended up buying an older Double Bonus machine. It's a counter top model, but came with a base.I was surprised that older reel slots went in the thousands where the newer ones were cheaper. I also picked up some great slot and VP glass signage, including a six foot sign from the Stardust. "Win a car on a 25 cent spin", and a two foot plastic Westward Ho 3/4 pound hot dog for .99 cents.

Very cool items, Bill.  I'm sure they'll provide many good memories and stories to be told.  I know you'll enjoy them.

I've thought about doing this for years.  My wife could be the drink girl and the casino manager.  Drinks are free and I can fantasize about how I'll dress her up.  This all works in my mind until I wake up...

I inherited a Mills slot machine from an uncle some years back that I thought was pretty neat. We'd played with it as kids. Great thing about it was that it was loaded with Buffalo and V Nickels.

Years ago, I remember a store on the retail level of the Statosphere that sold old VP machines and slots. Shoulda bought one but didn't have the cash then. That's why I was playing the .25 10/6 JOB they had back then.

I remember that store Car, I once walked through a store in Las Vegas that also sold used machines. It might have been that one but I can't remember.

I remember that store at the Stratosphere too!  I was eyeing old VP machines but they had to be 25 years old to bring them into IL and these weren't that old.  They were one line, drop coin.  I'm glad I couldn't buy one.  The maintenance would probably be too costly.
