Re: Bad days happen too
Time to start saving for my next trip. Hopefully in April. It wasn't so much the losing that bothers me, It was how fast it took my BR each session. Nothing but dud hands. Absolutely no entertainment value whatsoever. If I were alone I would have cut the trip short and left Saturday morning. I did see a few people hit but they seemed not to be too excited about it. Probably were still in the negative. I am definitely not staying @ Harrah's next time. Not just because of the poor play results I had. The boardwalk properties are just much more convenient and close to other activities when the play dries up. I also like the layout of the casino's better. The shuttle service was terrible this time also. 45 minute wait each time to get to or from. One time I gave up and went back into harrah's and called it a night 'cause it was pushing an hour standing outside in the freezing cold. By the time I would have got to Bally's I would have had to just stay outside the casino and waited for the return bus at that rate. Last shuttle was @ 11:00pm on a Friday night. Come on.

Paco I've been on two Harrah's trips, one to Reno and the other to Laughlin, both times I got murdered. I've played my share of bad vp but to be put thru 5 days of nothing is tough. I've been to Harrah's in Vegas twice, got murdered there both times but managed to do decent once we left the strip.

Paco, the shuttle service between the CET properties in AC went totally in the toilet back when Showboat bit the dust....They used to have four shuttles operating, now it's two, and only one of the shuttles has a handicap lift, which is perpetually broken down. I stopped using the CET shuttle a long time ago, I spring for the 4.50 to use the jitney service. Or you can use the NJ Transit service at 75 cents one way if you can get the schedule and alter your dayaround it. It's actually pretty good and frequent.
Even when I saw the CET van had a busted handicapped lift, I asked to simply walk on board and have the driver lift my chair on board, but their reply was absolutely not. They said it was against their rules .....Now I really don't care myself but there are many customers who are disabled and elderly so I guess they don't care about them either. Smart....

I have used the Jitney in the past and will again I'm sure. I was not the sole decision maker on this trip or I would have sprang for it. Funny part is I also would have stayed on the Boardwalk in the first place. After her (oops I mean another member of my party's) experience's this time with the shuttle, weather, time and energy wasted back and forth multiple times it has been agreed we will stay at a boardwalk property next time. The tiny little (forgive me I meant Friggin Huge) reason the Harrah's decision was based on no longer outweighs the pro's of the other side. Not to mention, said reason actually caused us grief upon first arrival to our room requiring an hour of wasted time until a manager could come and remedy the problem. The mood was set. I will say, housekeeping was very helpful and friendly to the extent they could be as well as the rest of the staff. The manager also was great.
None the less, if you are going to offer a service you should provide good service.

Between Paco and KK, I realize that my patronage must cease. When I get back to Harrah's, it will strictly be for lunch. Once fueled, I will walk over to Borgata for a superior gaming experience. They're a bit more gentle on their marks. Hopefully I can bypass the sketchy shuttle service and spring for the jitney back to the boardwalk. Walking back to H, then waiting around is folly.

I have yet to get back to the Borgata. It is certainly a must do the next time down.

Harrahs definitely has some big swings, the key is being 1.lucky to be there when it's going good and 2. being able to recognize a bad day and shutting down quickly.

FAA, the food was the best part of the stay. Even room service is good.
I must add, my mother came along with us this time. She did well playing slots at Harrah's. Nothing Big but she came back ahead evey time she went to play.

If not there when it's going good on a hot casino cycle, it's over. But who has the discipline for a bad day shutdown? Better to just walk around and observe outcomes, but easier said than done. I prefer Borgata visit because if I do get slammed at least I can rationalize that I changed my environment to the highest payout casino in town.

I was steamrolled at Borgata yesterday. A third of Car's loss was brutal. Four hours of JOB. Big mistake: a drastic jump to dollar. Go up to fifty cent, stay on the machine and relax. That should have been the plan. I was in a nice remote area. Quads every 400-600 hands. What's the problem? It's not any greener on the other side of the damn bar.
