  Whatever denomination you are going
to play, it's best to commit to it and stay there.  Know that you could very
possibly lose 3-4 royals or more before you hit one.  You could also
lose an entire royals worth of coins on a very bad day.  If you are
willing to accept these losses as part of the game, play at whatever
denomination you are comfortable with.  If losses cause you distress,
drop down to a denomination where you are less likely to panic.  In my
opinion it is much better to give up some return than suffer through a
game that makes you feel bad most of the time.Don't jump around
in games or denominations.  This creates errors and wastes money as you hardly ever get lucky enough to "pot shot" your way to anything worthwhile.  I've hit some good jackpots doing this, but I've always lost more between lucky hits.   Learn to play one or two games well and
concentrate on playing slow, steady and accurately.  Fight the idea that
a move to a higher denomination will recover your losses or make you a
big time winner.    Dancer
style strategies work better than anything you will ever think up on
your own.  You may not make a profit, but you will play cheaper than you
will with anything else.

Must agree, I finally learned this year to stay at the same bet. It has payed off very well for me. Past years I get ahead on bank roll and raise my betting and give it back plus. If I have a bad day now  I think to myself walking out the door I will get them next trip and forget playing stupid trying to win it back. Learning to stay within bank roll as soon is you can will help you in the long run .

I have $90 FP tomorrow. Gonna burn it before I head out for home in morning. It's my last chance to save this trip. Will the VP Gods have mercy on me? Or will they laugh as I head for the door head hung low?

Yes. I will take your advice to heart. This cannot reoccur. Just shoot me. I don't even know why I made this change for the worse. I used to love rationally grinding away at quarter JOB for hours. I must get my greed under control and come to my senses ASAP. Maybe Caesars is a poor choice for me with their set up and my lack of discipline. I need a machine that will simply switch from quarters to fifty. I guess it's back to Borgata or Bally's for easy access to those. Thanks for the thread title. It'll be nice and easy for referencing.FAA I been doing the $10 loss per machine then move. Seems to work for me playing them $1 bets. I have over 200 machine that have 9/6 jacks no need to sit on a cold RNG when the machine next to it might be in a better mood.

VP Gods should make short work of that FP. Time for spring hibernation. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

Wild, $10 loss/machine is a great rule of thumb. Move three times and I move out the door. Nice cut and dried system.
The idea of a Cold RNG is also a wonderful framing device with which to analyze the problem.

Tired of coming home empty handed". I purchased a Winner's Bank. A locked metal box about the size of a wallet in which about 30 folded bills can fit through a slot. I leave the key and my credit cards at home taking only a bank roll I can affording to lose. I set a a percentage I can afford to lose and bank all but $50 to continue playing. I always play max and since doing this have always come home with more than I left with!

Video poker teaches you a lot about yourself.  I am a very impulsive person.  This has motivated me over the years and has caused me distress a few times.  Impulsiveness can be good if it causes you to act on opportunities that others may miss.  It can hurt you if the things you are motivated toward are destructive.   VP has helped me to control my impulses.  I learned that running over to the high limit room for a pot shot is mostly painful.  I learned to stay away from playing slots at max coins.   I also learned how to accept defeat and let it go for another day.   Casino gambling is a battle between teams of high paid marketers and your wallet.  If you want to win this battle you have to be tougher than they are.   At 70 years old I'm still working on it and it's a constant struggle.

Root Cause: Playing Above Bankroll.
Slow as a snail. Max coin quarters.
Leave well enough alone.
