Mothers Day Weekend Trip Shortened
We were to be at Caesars AC Thursday 5-11 until Monday 5-15. By the way, we both quit smoking last September after our last trip there. To us, smoking and gambling go hand in hand. So we get there about 2:00 pm, eat and play from 3 - 8 pm. By not smoking, I was totally bored and was ready to go back home, even though everything we touched seemed to payoff. VP, slots, whatever. Hit $800 on Buffalo, $600 on some other machine, wife hit $800 on a slot, four aces $200 and then hit a royal on $1 machine in progressive area for $4000. We quit for the evening and headed back home Friday morning $6,000 ahead. I either had to start back smoking or leave. Wife wanted to stay, but I was not interested at all. Now where does that leave me with future gambling? We go to Caesars 3 times a year and hit diamond. We didn't even get 1000 pts this trip. Amazing what smoking can do to you.

Ahead of most of us. You forfeited some serious vacationing. But you would have likely given back a thousand or two. Consider it a wash. The whole point scam is a transparent ploy to produce massive player losses, as you know. Carping after a $6,000 win trip will not garner much empathy. Reality check time.

Just stating the facts FAA. Gambled all my adult life but smoked with it.
Kinda like bacon and eggs or pancakes and syrup. One goes with the other. Not carping. Not bragging. The desire to gamble without smoking drops from 100% to 10%. That's what I'm saying. Our vacations are all gambling trips and Diamond gives us everything comped so all we spend is on the casino floor. Haven't paid for a room for twenty years. Use food offers, Diamond lounge and rewards card for meals. That is worth something when we travel up from Virginia. Surely there are others who have experienced this smoking issue.

I'm sure. One guy had a heart attack at a Caesars craps table on Wednesday. No revival; dead. Two days later, I witnessed ambulance EMTs wheel someone out in a body bag. These events, plus my recent losses have soured me on Caesars. Glad it's paid off for you! Sounds like you guys can kill two vices with one stone. That my friend is a big time win. I know I may sound disingenuous. Life is all perspective.

Lordy hope your not the jinx of Caesars lol. Hauling out in body bags would be a downer for sure. I'll try to not be there when you are 🤕

Than congrats to you and your wife on the positive results from your play.
As for smoking, the last sentence of your originating post "Amazing what smoking can do to you" does say alot. Smoking can: kill you, shorten your life by many years, disenfranchise you from family and friends (you'd be amazed at the number of dinner invitations I've turned down because it required me to go to a smokers house); ruin clothes and furniture; wreck photographs, stain walls, other home furnishings, etc. Yep, it is amazing what smoking does to you.

Congrats on your win Than! And congrats on stopping smoking, even a bigger win! I quit smoking a year ago on the 24th of this month, and I know what you mean about gambling...It was the hardest place to NOT smoke! It definitely goes hand in hand, no doubt. Best of luck to you, keep up the good work.

I suck on drink stirrers while gambling. Its just about the only time I miss smoking.
