Ever Win A Casino Raffle?

Post by FloridaPhil »

Most regular forum members know I play VP at least one day each week.  80% of the time I play at the Tampa Hard Rock.  The Tampa Hard Rock is about a 1 3/4 hour drive from our home.  This usually means I arrive at the casino about 8-9 AM and stay until about 3 PM.  On many of my weekly trips the casinos hold a raffle where they give away cash or free play.  Sometimes they call out the winners at the top of the hour and other times it's every 10 minutes or so.  The raffles using start at 12 noon and continue until late in the evening.I have been going to Florida casinos for well over 10 years and have never had my name called once.   I attribute this to the fact that I can only stay for a short time during the day.  I suppose the players that live closer to the casinos have an advantage in these raffles?  If I could hang out all day everyday, I image I would win one once in a while.  Anyone ever win anything in a casino drawing?

I've won promo in drawings over the years...$50, $100, $250 and years ago $500 and didn't even know it, until the next time I went back. They called my name after I had left. It was a nice surprise...But I've never won the big drawings, the car, or big cash prizes, etc...

My last girlfriend won a couple times at Hollywood Casino in Aurora, IL. $500.00 each time but she missed out at the big drawings when each of the $500.00 winner's names were in the hopper.

About 10 years ago I sat next to a lady who won a car.    I've seen people win $5k a couple of times.   I'm still waiting for my turn.

I've been going to AC & Vegas for over 30 years. The only thing I have won was Bingo once ( excluding jackpots ). There were 2 other bingo winners and I had to split the $1000 prize.

I was one of the people called for Caesar's AC's Big Pull event earlier this Winter when I stayed there. $2500 cash plus 25, If I remember correct, free spins on a $100 slot machine. I ended up with $8000 total. Women next to me won $15000 on her first pull as I sat down to start. Don't know what she took total by the end but her machine was ringing bells a lot as she played.

My g/f has been pretty lucky in limited chances. Once she got $100 FP in a hot seat promo at Hollywood STL. And another time in Tunica, she won $120. In that promo, all members got one spin on a 3 coin dollar Double Double Diamond machine. Instead of one cherry being $6, they were nice and made it $10 (I got that once out of the 2 or 3 times they had it). She got Bar-DD-DD for the $120.

I also got $100 of FP for bowling 186 and finishing 18th in a Wii Bowling promo.

Thanks to Alpax and Tedlark for responding to this TR the first time...lol

I have seen a few people win hot seat free play myself.   A lot of the bigger drawings in our casinos are in the evening and you must be there to win.   This means I miss most of them.   One day I may get lucky.  Who knows?

I often wonder if my name has been called after I leave. I know I hear so many called that don't claim so they move on to another and another and so on when I am there.
I disagree with the must be present policy they all follow. I just feel its not right that if a person earns entries all month or sometimes multiple months usually spending hundreds or thousands but they can't make it that day or stay (and play with card in a machine for many promo's) for the duration of the drawing event they are DQ'd. It is a snub to their loyal customers as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure that if a non present person was notified they won the resulting enticement to play there would not be hurt. Especially due to your entries being earned according to the amount you play over a specific time period. And I'd be willing to bet when that person returned to claim the prize they wouldn't just grab it and go without playing while they were there. Many are free play prizes so what is the difference if you take it and play it that day or some other day.

I've never understood people who refuse to go to a drawing because it's not at the time they normally gamble.
I recently was at a bar talking to another go player and he was lamenting the fact that a certain casino we both play at offered early morning and late night bonuses but nothing mid afternoon. He liked to play mid afternoon. I told him I like to play when I get the best bang for the dollar. It never occurred to him to change his habits.
