The problem I have with positive/negative opportunity discussions is that there is so much "chance" involved in gambling the odds don't seem to have any real effect on my results.  On the other hand, if a good opportunity arises why wouldn't you take advantage of it?The biggest wins I have ever had in VP have been on seriously negative games.    I've been to Vegas and I've played positive VP games.  You can lose a pile of money on those games just as easily.   Right now, I'm winning more on slots than VP and who knows what the odds are on those games?   If I am given a choice of two games, I am going to play the game with the best odds.  However, I know I can win or lose on either game.  Gambling with an edge sounds good.  In reality I don't think it makes any real difference.  Better odds let you play longer with the same money.  They do not guarantee jackpots.
