Full Pay Jacks & Better +++

Post by Texas Too »

My wife and I just got back from a trip to Oklahoma for our 18th anniversary hitting 5-6 different casinos.  I found a Jacks and Better quarter machine with the following pay table:250-90-25-9-6-4-3-2-1     That's Right - 450 for a straight flush on max bet!    Can anyone tell me what the payout percentage is on this machine?   On our way to Tulsa I hit $150 on this machine on the way home 2 days later stopped again and within 30 minutes I hit 4 of a kind on this game then switched to Deuces Wild and hit 4 deuces on the fourth hand playing quarters then switched to DDBP on a 5 cent max bet hit 4 - 2's with a 3 kicker for 3200 nickels!  Walked out with 350 bucks.

The theoretical return for 9/6 JOB with a 450 straight flush rather than the normal 250 is just shy of 100%. According to the Wizard of Odds, it is 99.9962%

The Wizard of Odds strategy calculator gives you a basic strategy (at 99.9945%) and the exceptions you need to make to to perfect.Keep in mind, for a quarter player who plays 800 hands per hour, there is a 2 cents per hour difference between the basic and the advanced strategy. These distinctions are not for most people here. But basic plays such as  Jh Th 9h 4c 4d and 5h 6h 7h 8h 9c are played differently in 9-6-90 JoB than 9-6-50 JoB

Thanks.  The subject machine is at the One Fire Casino in Okmulgee at the far right end of the bar.  It is so far for us to drive that I figured the video poker aficionados here should enjoy it too.   It is the best quarter machine I have ever found in 16 plus years of playing VP.

Bartop gaffes are fun. My gf stumbled across one at Gustav's bar at Paris Las Vegas in Feb. 2014. It was 10/6 DDB (100.07%).

Bob, maybe you would know this. On IGT Game King units, do you know if the "default" payback setting is "full pay"?

The few times we have found obvious gaffes, they always seem to be "full pay".

Don't know what the defaults are. Most likely the loosest or the tightest. There are LOTS of settings for a video poker machine --- and each casino has its own philosophy. Getting some settings "wrong" isn't that unusual. My "million dollar six months" back in 2001-2002 was fueled by such a mis-setting. It was kind of subtle --- paying off points at the slot machine rate instead of the video poker rate --- but it ended up being quite lucrative for me.I frequently just plain scout by checking all the pay schedules for the denominations I would pay. The worse-run the casino, the more likely you'll find mistakes.

]That's true --- but there are a few changes in strategy from regular JoB at the basic level, and LOTS of changes in strategy at the advanced. I agree. When I first encountered this pay table (at the Aquarius in Laughlin), I worked out what I thought to be all the strategy changes. I don't know if I identified them all, but I'd be surprised if i missed something significant.

I don't bother with that game anymore. There are other things to play at Aquarius, and the only thing making it a higher paying game is the straight flush, which comes along very infrequently.
