The Great Leather Coat Giveaway

Post by jetermacaw »

Yesterday Harrahs gave away 100s if not a 1000 leather coats, unfortunately a lot of people payed way more than they were worth. It was so bad yesterday pairs were being celebrated like 4oak lol. Saw the writing on the wall early and cut my losses.

Were they logo'd jeter? I usually stay away from those promos because I don't find the jacket/giveaway to be a quality item.

A few months ago Harrah's Joliet was giving away a 3 piece Samsonite luggage set and I went the 1st week to grab the first piece but once I saw the quality I didn't return for the other two pieces. Ironically I used the one piece and on the return flight when I grabbed it from the luggage carrousel the thing had a 3" rip in it. Oh well. Horseshoe Hammond just sent me an invite for a 3 piece HARD luggage set but I'm doubtful of the quality.

Gave one to my nephew last year, he out grew it and wanted a new one. The luggage give away is next month. Guess I’ll cancel after the first week.

Saw the writing on the wall early and cut my losses. No such thing as useful writing on the wall here. Apparently a certain number of people sitting near you had worse than average luck. This doesn't say anything about what the next hour or three gambling will bring.Insofar as whether the luggage was worth what the expected cost to get it was, I have no knowledge and don't care. I usually try to see an actual sample of the gift before I decide to play for it --- and sometimes decide to play and sometimes decide not to. I wouldn't expect your decisions or anyone else's on this matter to be in lockstep with mine. But it's easy to predict the EV of playing most machines. That information is far more useful than basing your decision on your score (or other people's score) since you showed up at the casino.

The coat was by invitation based on previous play. What I was eluding to was as a regular weekly player ( not on your level Mr. Dancer ), and that of other regulars some who have tier credits north of 500,000 knew it wasn’t a “normal” win some lose some day.

Unless those of you out there reading this are REGULAR players at Atlantic City's three CET properties (i.e. Jeter, and to a far lesser but still relevant sense, ME), you do not know or understand what Jeter is talking about here....I do not care if this has been said before:  the SERVERS at the CET properties in AC are being "managed, manipulated and controlled" to the extent that there are way too many extended periods (even DAYS) that fit what Jeter describes, whereby no matter what VP machine or game you choose to play, you get statistically ABYSMAL results.    I KNOW its not supposed to work this way.....I KNOW its against the "law" or "Rules" or everyone's sense of "right and wrong" etc etc......But I'm telling you this is what has been happening for at least the last 18 months and beyond......Just GO to AC, spend 4-5 days at the Hattahs, or Ballys or Caesars and be prepared for frustrating futility on a scale and in a manner you've never seen, nor would expect to see based on how VP is supposed to work (and how it DOES work in places like Vegas)....Of course, they DO still have SOME winners, and it literally holds to the cliche "When it rains it pours", because in order for the AC casinos to meet the NJ requirements for OVERALL payout rate, they will seemingly payout a LOT at once during very short but intense winning phases, and then turn it right back off......Jeter knows MANY people (more than I DO) at Harrahs AC who agree with this overall assessment.....

I fully concur and endorse DB's message. I once merely sighed and chuckled at his alarmist TR futility posts. Then I increased my BR. I am now all aboard the misery loves company bandwagon. You don't usually whiff on all three machines on a carousel or half a bank. Unless you're at a CET AC property. I may be duking it out with the obnoxious couples for a prized seat at Borgata next year. The coats were of the wrong material, given all the wool CET pulls over its sucker sheep patrons' eyes. Baa bye.

I guess my biggest TELL is I have been very consistent in my play for the last 5 year, same BR, same pay tables, same games yet I am 10,000 tier credits behind where I have been at this time of year for the last 5 years. With my BR always earned 500 to 1000 tiers every visit, 1000 seems like a dream now and only made 500 on a few occasions.

Sounds like a logically drawn conclusion. Your 2017 ROI is like a coat with its sleeves shorn. I'm tired of paying upwards of $2 per TC and so are you. I have a great view of the exit at Harrah's. If I get a quad, the feet are now walking to Borgata. If ice cold upon cheaply sampling the State of the Carousel, I am also walking. It's downright dangerous.

Stating YOUR OPINION over and over and over again, does not make it fact.
