I would advise anyone playing this game to push themselves away from the machine with their first substantial win.Aha! The "quit while you're ahead" theory of winning. What usually happens is that whenever somebody wins, they think they've found the easy way to riches and they go back for another load. They typically end up with typical results. The way to win is to avoid playing the game at all unless you have reason to believe it returns more than 100% (including the extras the casino throws in.) Good games are available in most jurisdictions, if you're smart enough, knowledgeable enough, and disciplined enough to not play until you find them. Find them, play them, and prosper!

Was at the Orleans last night. The DDB pay table is 8/5 for this game.

Magic Deal is destined to be among the most successful video poker games in terms of drawing and keeping addicted VP players. The magic deal function creates such huge hand possibilities that it greatly accelerates the anticipation factor that is such a major component of gambling addiction. I would advise anyine playing this game to push themselves away from the machine with their first substantial win.

You sure about that? My local (Hollywood STL, who likes to try new VP games) yanked it out and replaced it with "Haywire Poker".

God Boyd is trying to act more like the Strip casinos in 2017. Bah. Thanks for the info though.

How realistic is the Magic Deal here in the contests vs. real life?

Just played 100 hands in one of the challenges, and got exactly 1 (count 'em, 1!) magic deal hand, and that was on the 80'th hand.

You didn't say which game you were playing.  If you were playing Triple Double Bonus, the expected frequency is about 4 deals with Magic Cards per 100 deals.  Of course, only 1 deal per 100 is a pretty bad draw, but there is about a 7% chance of having only one.  And there is a 1.6% chance of having ZERO!!Now, if you were playing one of the the other games and you only got 1 Magic Deal, then you got really unlucky.  E.g., if you were playing Double Double Bonus the odds of getting 1 or fewer hands with Magic Cards would be about 1881 to 1.I don't know, but the relative dearth of Magic Cards in TDB may be one of the reasons that TDB is not an option in the contests.  It may save Webman from having to handle so many complaints from those that are unlucky.  In a weekly contest with 50,000 sessions, about 800 of them would get no Magic Cards and another 4000 or so would see only 1 deal with Magic Cards in 100 hands.  Of course, that would be even worse during the daily contest sessions where there are only 50 hands per session.
