I hope everyone has a great Christmas.   It's eighty degrees in Florida right now.  We are turning up the air conditioner to get in the spirit.  Ho Ho Ho!

It's 23 here in MI

I started playing vp over 30 years ago and almost always played job or bonus poker. I enjoyed the game, but streaks of 5,6, or even 8 hours without any quads never mind Royals drove me crazy and try as I might, I cannot regain or maintain interest in either game anymore  I have played 19,000 hands this month 9/6 Jacks and 8/5 BP.  Have had 58 four of a kinds and 2 SF  playing $5 a hand. It's very rare for me to go over an hour without a 4ok. I only play to a $50 loss then move. I know that should not make a different vs playing the same machine for hours but my moving around has worked for me all year long not going to change now.

That is very very interesting. I will have to give that a try. I tend to limit myself to one, two, or at most 3 machines per session and that can be 8 hours or more. I will let you know what happens. If in fact the same thing happens to me as you over and over and again and I mean hitting quads every hour or so after tens or even hundreds of thousands of hands, then that means the machines are in fact not random as they claim to be. Some machines just never seem to change no matter how long you play them. In fact a few years ago, I gave back an entire Royal hit of 4,000 bucks by stubbornly continuing to play it on job. After 8 or so hours without a quad on the same machine the 4,000 and more was gone.

We must be relentless and ruthless movers, or go bust. Cold machines generally stay cold. I will experiment with forty and fly. I will pattern bills in my wallet to maintain this system. Two twenties normal, two upside down, etc. I'll know when to go. It's silly, but I am desperate to shake things up at this point!

quite a few posters on this and other threads seem to try to use various versions of "hit-and-run".my method since 1977 when i asked a pit boss at cal-neva in north lake tahoe what it was that casinos did not like to see players do?(i was into free junkets at the time and wanted to keep a good thing going and not get barred).his answer was hit and quit or some version thereof.reading between the lines,i deduced that what they wanted was for me to hold still while they ground away at my wallet.i have used some version of the opposite ever since.                                                  which brings me to ask a question concerning my current most frequented casino.soaring eagle.they appear to be changing the way they rate players, with something called pattern-of play and it doesn't sound good with ominous implications for h&r.anyone know anything about this?                                   wildman49?(by the way his 23 degrees would have been welcome this morning when it was 6 below on my backyard thermometer)

Sorry about the 6 degree weather.  It's 74 at my house in Central Florida right now.  Come on down....

Great deduction, Tech! I WON'T be keeping any machine chairs warm on future trips. It's no way to win. There'll be the odd miraculous comeback or two, the exceptions to the rule. But by and large, you gotta keep hopping. You can't spell hope without hop.

I enjoy hoping around also.   Hitting a jackpot, cashing out and moving to the next machine feels good.  The problem is you run into another machine that didn't get the memo.  We are human beings, not computers.  If I'm not comfortable for some reason, I move.  Hitting back to back quad deuces always makes me comfortable no matter what's happening around me.

Sure. I'd rather avoid the risk of losing the first one myself.
