In that spirit- Why did the moron play bad paytables?
Sounds like you are calling everyone who plays negative VP a moron.  When you don't have anything except negative VP to play, will you quit the game?  Who will buy your books and software then?

The same people who don't buy them now. I don't know, is this a trick question?
In NY, just about my favorite street food was a gyro. Back there, its a beef and lamb combo. In Vegas, almost everyplace sells chicken gyros or beef gyros but the NY style gyro is rare. Rather than eat a pale imitation of what I like, I eat very few gyros.
When I lived in NY, there was a casino three miles from my office. Stepped into it once for a party. Never played a dime because of the horrible VLT machines.
I wasn't so addicted that I had to make weekly trips to play bad games. I'd fly to Vegas three or four times a year instead.

AC is between VLT and LV. My current objective is positive or neutral trips. FP and Flee. Failing that, recycle FP until exhausted and incur a minor trip cost. People love this routine. I'll leave the jackpot chasing to the high rollers subsidizing the day trippers. Taking foot off gas and staying in my slow lane.
I wasn't so addicted that I had to make weekly trips to play bad games. I'd fly to Vegas three or four times a year instead.
Bill, I applaud your discipline. Obviously you are a serious gambler.  Most of us are not.  We play the game for entertainment.  I can be entertained by playing a 96.77% quarter game just as much as flying to Vegas to play full pay deuces.  I do not expect to beat either game long term.I don't make many trips to Vegas.  I don't need to.  I play every week without the expense and hassles.   I enjoy my day at the casino, the games are fun and the comps are good.  All we have to do is play their games.  We don't have too play them big, just big enough to make them happy.  The casino is happy and so are we.There is no "one size fits all" video poker strategy.  What produces a profit in Vegas may work against you in Miami, St. Louis or Northern Minnesota.  We are not ignoring math, our games and comps are different.  Few of us are willing to sell our homes, uproot our families and move to Vegas so we can hang out at South Point with Bob Dancer.  We would rather stay where we are and play the games we have.I do not make personal judgements about people that I don't know just because I don't agree with their choice of entertainment.  As long as it's legal and they use their own money, who cares?   If you think we are morons for doing what we enjoy, so be it.  I suspect calling people names is something you learned in NY.  Our current President seems to be a master at it.  Do you believe degrading others on this forum makes you appear more intelligent or superior?  It doesn't.  It makes you seem petty and defensive.   Truly intelligent people listen to the opinions of others, try to see things from their point of view and use logic to persuade them to change their minds, not insult them and expect to be respected in return.  Think about this before you respond.   This could be a learning moment for you.

VP is way too sprawling to accommodate a one size fits all strategy. I want to play for an hour, then enjoy the city's offerings. Many players want the marathon experience. They are likelier to have memorable experiences. I'm the VP equivalent of a pinch hitter. I just won't have the at bats when the smoke clears. Some people want a hand pay, some are fine playing nickels. It's a huge tent. We need not resort to pillow fights.

At the expense of offending many New Yorkers who are nice people, I must say that having New York as a next door neighbor and seeing many of them in action at the casino is something I go out of my way to avoid. So many are brash, rude, demanding, and think they are so much better and have so much more money than others that is almost sickening. Just ask almost any customer service employee at Mohegan Sun about many of them. Just the other day I had a couple of them within earshot of my machine. After 5 minutes, I couldn't take it and cashed out. Nothing but complaining, searing, chain smoking, and rude to the waitress on top of it. And these were women well into their 60s to boot. Of course they were decked out to the hills in gaudy jewelry, high end hand bags, etc. and both flicked their ashes onto the floor. Just disgusting. My apologies to the many nice New Yorkers I have met over the years.
PS...I love it when I see them coming on I 95 weaving in and out in heavy traffic and getting nowhere. I love it when I see in advance what they are up to and make sure I jam them in the slow lane as they try their dangerous antics. Some even drive to pass in the breakdown lane. Saw one of them get pulled over the other day. It was a great feeling. By the way, New Jersey drivers are fast but not as dangerous for the most part. Most of them I don't mind at all.
