I doubt many people playing a game with a top prize of $1,000, or even $5000, are dreaming of hitting it big.
I know lots of people that would think winning $5,000 playing VP is "Hitting it Big".   To a quarter CS player, winning $1,000 would be fantastic.   To someone who plays max coins all the time, not so much.  Winning is only one part of VP.    You must subtract your loses.   Most gamblers conveniently leave them out.   You can fool your wife and friends by telling them you always win long term.  You can even convince yourself that your comps put you in the black.  Unfortunately, you can't fool your wallet.

The bank statement is never misstated. My dream is a $4,000 RF, which would be my first hand pay. It's a bucket list goal. I hope it won't take until 2068 or so. That's a lot of poor Won/Loss statements.

I guess some people have small dreams. Perhaps that explains their small thoughts.
In 7th grade, our mechanical drawing teacher assigned us a project to diagram our dream car. Most chose a Vette or Rolls. I chose an armored car loaded with cash.

Mensa.....Ah yes....really jogging my memory now. Yes, passed the test, but too busy to join etc. It was fun though beating them all regularly at my favorite game...RISK...Just like vp....little bit of skill and rots or ruck.

After my first, I suspect that I will dream of climbing the hand pay scale. One hurdle at a time.
In 7th grade, our mechanical drawing teacher assigned us a project to diagram our dream car.
I owned all my dream cars and I didn't get them by playing Video Poker.  The point I am making is there are all kinds of players in the video poker world.  A high roller in the high limit room is not somehow better than a retiree playing single coin quarters.    There is no room for elitism in VP or on this forum.   Players on a budget have just as much right to enjoy VP as a billionaire.   The cards don't check your financial statement before they deal.CS is a short term bankroll extending video poker game plan for players who play negative video poker games.  If you don't need or want to extend your bankroll, don't use it.  It's there for those that do.

I would have maybe broken even yesterday without CS. Instead, two well timed max quads and net +$295. It works great at saving money. But when it hits, it's tremendous. Winning back the money you've just lost is a relief, but rather pointless and a highly frustrating trip. I'm through with those journeys. If I make a comeback, I'd rather find another machine and try to get into the black.

I can't count the number of days I have broken even or made money taking CS pot shots.  It happens all the time.  Will I have better results with CS long term?  It's doubtful, but I don't care about long term.  If I walk into the casino with $400 bucks and leave with that much or more, I'm happy.   Do that enough times and I'll be just fine.  Flat betting max coin VP is a waiting game.   You have math or your side, but math won't help you when all your money's gone and you walk out with empty pockets again and again.   Bob Dancer says losing doesn't bother him.   Good for him.  That's not me.In my opinion 40,000 hands (maybe) is too long to wait for a profit.  I always play short term.  When I play VP my goal each and every day is to walk out with at least as much as I came in with.  Bob recently made this statement when I asked about guarantees "There is no guarantee you will be here tomorrow!".   How true...    Do I want my last words to be "Damn. If I only could have played a little longer, I would have got my money back!"    NO THANKS

with at least as much as I came in with. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Exactly. Lop off two zeros. I am okay with four hundred hands and about $700 coin in if the results are significant. Be ruthless and surgical. Accomplish mission, leave. It's  within our power. We're almost always up a good amount at some point. For me, it's within the first hour. Had I safely quit, I would have forgone the other $125 quad two miles away. I was prepared to cheap out there as well. But Harrah's was hospitable enough to deal me four straight sevens after $20 coin in, or 1 TC on the full pay machines (see thread photos). Zero drama, just a gift. Happy hour lunch lured me in, and now I was euphoric. Sixty yard sprint to the door after my door prize. TITO conveniently near machine.
