Just to clarify, is that five round trips or ten? You bought your spouse with you, right?
Ten free round trips has to be a savings of at least $3,000, and fifty nites is easily worth another thousand.
Meals for two for fifty plus days adds up pretty quickly. Yes, it is a total of 10 round trips.

On the other hand, my figures do not my wife's results, which also were somewhat negative (I'm not exactly sure how much).

   That's exactly what I meant OMT. I've dabbled in ACES$ before so I don't have alot of playing time with that game. I didn't play that game very much. What little I did play was 8/5 ACE$ bonus at the M, which is a decent game. I was within $100 of break-even on it, so it would not qualify as a boat anchor for me.

My understanding, unfortunately, is that these games at the M have been downgraded.

Just trying to put a perspective on it. Ten round trip tickets, fifty nites, and free food for a $9,000 loss.
That's $180 a day for fifty days of vacation.
   Not as good as being on permanent vacation, like me, but better than a kick in the head.

Phil I completely disagree with what you wrote about the player who only plays video poker one week a year in Las Vegas. You said there is a good chance he won't hit a royal during that week.

The "chance" this player has always remains the same. To me this player also has a good chance he WILL hit one.

I'm trying to figure out what you are talking about but again; chance has nothing to do with machine denomination.To make any sense of this --- either side --- you need to specify the parameters. Are we talking Jacks or Better? If so, we're looking at a 40,000-hand royal cycle. Are we talking about NSU Deuces Wild? Then we're talking about a cycle of 43,500 hands.Are we talking about playing single line? Hundred Play? Or what?How many total hands are going to be played in that week?If we say the player is playing 30,000 hands of JoB, then the binomial theorem gives us the chances he'll hit 0, 1, 2, . . . 10 royals. And yes there's some chance for all of those. The most likely number of royals in this scenario will be 0 and 1.If the player is instead playing 300,000 hands of JoB (because he's playing 10 Play), then his chance of hitting at least one royal are pretty big! Not guaranteed, but pretty big.

Or what?[/quote]Good point.  My opinions are formed from personal experience.  I never play multi line video poker.   At 700 hands an hour, it takes me 57 hours to play 40,000 hands.  That's one long week of VP and I would need a hand splint at the end.  We don't play multi line VP because our casinos regularly drop the odds for multi line play.  Our games are still negative even with comps added.   We concluded more hands played equals bigger losses.

I don’t have the statistical breakdown that One posted but talking to a friend at Harrahs AC yesterday he had the absolute worst year ever by far in his history of playing. He plays 100 hand QQs, varies between 1c, 2c, and 5c. Weekly player with 2,000,000 tier credits. Can’t even imagine how much he lost. Another 7* couple who each obtain 7* status by March gave a similar report. All are concerned about the results and hoping that it was just a bad year and nothing is amiss.

I did not mean to create the impression I am angry, or frustrated, by my results. Puzzled would be a better description.

My 2017 sounds a lot like yours both frustrating and disappointing. Coin in was $1.23 millI only play single line, the year started out  well had 10 royals by June. Four in April alone playing nickels and quarters. Playing tons of hands a month 70,000 to 80,000. I then moved up to 50 cent level to play less hands per month. From there it was down hill the royals dried up. I then started going back and forth quarters to half's and the royals seemed to come in on the quarter play. Total royals 17 with 4 hand pays.I know staying with one betting amount would solve this up and down mess per say so at year end down $5500. What bothers me the most is the over 14k in free play I played thru thats included in my loss. So if no free play at all and one just played the machines with their cash its a $19,500 loss.I find myself doing the same thing here in 2018 4 royals 3 at $1000 and 1 at $4000 yet in the hole for the year just a few hundred. I tend to play $1 level for promos and quarter level for rec play.Onemoretry not sure I saw how much free play for the year you recived or did I miss it?

I'm glad you posted about this, thanks; now others here will have an inkling about who and what I'm talking about when I refer to additional, serious players and aquaintances who also report consistently abysmal play results in AC!

Onemoretry not sure I saw how much free play for the year you recived or did I miss it?
My free play, as best as I can estimate, would total total less than$1000. I don't keep track of it that closely - whatever I receive is incorporated into my play results.

The denomination discussion definitely applies to me. My results were better with getting royals and higher denominations.
