I have   played on Royal Carribean, Celebrity(same owners) and NCL. The pay tables are poor, and the machines are TIGHT!. I have found from years of cruising that they seem to pay off best on the first and last nights of a cruise. My theory is that if you win  the first night, you'll keep coming back, and if you win back some money on your last night, you will have better memories of that cruise line. My suggestion is to have a strict budget for play, with money allocated for each session,  because you could lose way too much. The sea days are killers, if you are not careful.

Any info on JoB pays? Worse than 7/5? Is RF 4K? I'll mess with a .96 game long as not seeking comps already paid for in cruise. Unless not a real RNG and pay sched reamains same how would they adjust wins?  I do know Armed Forces Rec Cntrs in Europe use more than one deck. I've videos of same card popping back to halt a decent SF, 4K, RF payoff. Real laugher and read the fine print in disclaimer. Never give a GI evenbreak. CD

Several years ago my wife hit a royal for $1200 on the first day of our cruise.  We ended up dumping it back in when we saw the progressive rise above $1500 during the cruise.  It never got hit again and was at $1700 plus when we got off board.  I know because I was there when the casino closed.  Something wrong with that picture because the machines got cold after her royal.  I did not see anyone else winning either.

One more thing about RC.  They do not have regular hours and close when they feel like it.  They seem to close sometime between 1 and 2am.  It looks like they have to have a certain amount of business to stay open.  So if you are cruisin on Royal Caribbean and are a night owl you are pretty much screwed.

I'm a vegas local and I play VP several times a week as does my wife.  We enjoyed our first cruise on a Royal Carribean Ship for a wonderful 7 days and nights.  It was easy to skip the VP action all together.  The pay tables on dollars and $2 (my denoms at home) were the same as nickle machines here in town!  They were getting plenty of play, from what we could see, at the quarter level with almost nobody playing max coin.  Holy Cow.  Anyway, it's easy for me to say since I play in my own back yard about 15 hours a week, but skip the casino and enjoy the rest of the cruise.  These boats seem to be where our old slots and VP machines go to die.  With so much to do, save your gambling for vacations taken here in Vegas and don't forget to visit the local casinos where the slot clubs are much more generous, the crowds are friendlier and the pay tables are almost always better.

Excellent advice. The more bad paytables get played the less likely they will ever be improved.

Just came off a NCL cruise and won $300 on the first night playing JOB on quarter machine.  Then on last night won $1300 on DDB playing $1 machine.
The paytables are not great, the higher the denomination the better.  As always check all games and all paytables as they can be different from machine to machine.

Just returned from the Mariner. The pay tables are not close to full pay, but no worse than most casinos on the Strip or in other gaming areas outside of Las Vegas. To say that the "machines are tight" shows no knowledge of VP. It's strictly the pay tables and your ability to play with optimum strategy that determines how you do. Whether or not they pay off best on the first night and the last night is an urban myth. On all my cruises, there has been no difference which day it is or what time of day. On this most recent one, I hit a Royal Flush progressive in the wee hours of Tuesday and then hit another mid-day on Friday (on a Sunday-to-Sunday cruise).

I have cruised on RC twice.  Both times I have done pretty well on VP.  In fact was given a high roller shirt for the times I had won a jackpot.  Never got a royal but hit those aces, deuces, threes and fours a number of times. with kickers
