10 play machines..

Post by JoB Hero »

If I’m playing a 10 play machine that’s jacks or better, at the quarter level. Will I be comped for 12.50 per hand? I’m planning on playing at a Harrahs location

Reward credits and tier credits would be based on the $12.50 per hand. Is that what you mean by comps?

It's not what you bet per hand, it's total coin in that counts.
1000 hands at $1.25=100 hands at $12.50

Perfect thanks guys, I’ve read on a few places that didn’t give full rewards points regardless of coin in on multi hand machines. I was thinking it was all about the coin-in. Just wanted to make sure.. I’ll be playing 10 play or 50 play BDW all next weekend

Different casinos treat different games differently.
Sounds silly but it's true.
Some companies will penalize a player for playing a full play machine. Some casinos will treat every game on a multi game platform the same. Others will treat each game different.
To a hobbyist, the difference is almost meaningless. When you get into playing thousands of hands per week minimum, it adds up quickly.

Even the hobbyists hate the penalty. $50 coin in for a measly TC is pure grind. And pure greed on the casino's part.

They all penalize VP players to begin with by doubling the amount of VP play per credit/comp unit required versus SLOT play. When they further knock down the rate of earning comps by requiring much more for the "full pay"/99%+ VP games it's very very annoying.

Places like Resorts AC just clobber VP players at all levels and games, regardless of the rate of return via paytable! About three years ago they just pulled the rug out from all VP players at Resorts AC and raised the required play on VP machines (all games) by an extreme amount....reason? "A player can basically break even playing VP"! (Direct quote from a host I spoke to). I laughed derisively when he said that, exclaiming "break even?!?! Here?!? Are you daft? I defy you, Mr. Resorts Host, to show me one player here in your casino database that's played at least 100,000 hands the past year who essentially broke even strictly based on play results (win-loss) alone!"   He skulked away knowing I was too sharp, and too wise to the "AC way of doing things" to be bamboozled any more by his brand of headbanging bull****!

And some of the Harrah's casinos require 4X ($20/tier credit) or even 10X ($50/tier credit) coin in on certain full pay VP machines. I know all 3 Harrah's casinos in Atlantic City do this. The machines are supposed to be marked to show this change.

Each casino develops its own business plan for VP. Our favorite casino requires $4/point Coin In and 250K points/year for top tier but has 98-99% return VP pay tables on as low as 2¢ VP. Slots earn at $3/pt. So a cool $1M VP Coin In each year for Sweet C and I to maintain our top tier. The good news is a 10¢/pt cash return for free play on every point at top tier. So a nice $2,500 in free play for maintaining top tier and it can be played on VP. Additionally, the points earn food/cash credits at the local tribes stores, restaurants, and gas station.

The Golden Nugget's business model is 97-6% VP with $10/point but only 100K a year for top tier. Yeah, the same $1M Coin In with lower cash back but much greater gifts and food credits. Free play can't be used on VP. So we play our free cash to the earn tickets to then play. Download $50 and play 10 spins of $5/slot. Cash out the remainder and repeat for the remaining free play.

At GN the Chairman level at 25K gives us all the options we want except the yearly cruise vs the Elite Level. Of course, if you reach the "Billionaire" level at GN they give the one year free lease of your choice- BMW, Porsche, Maserati, Bentley, or other luxury car. Its always exciting to see them parked in a special secure lot waiting for pick up.

Our key has been to learn the casino's system/tier information and then use a strategy to maximize our returns. For example, we'll both play on one player's cards to maximize points to reach the top tier we want to receive the comps we feel is appropriate for our play. Also learn when the "official day" is to increase your Average Daily Theoretical. Don't short play on a new day. By learning about the casino's tier system you can manipulate it to your advantage.
