I won't be writing a book on Video Poker any time soon.  Believe me, I'm no expert.   I had to learn everything I know about VP the hard way.   All  I needed to know was right in front of me, but NOOOOOOOOOO I had to do it my way and I paid the price.  Mr. Dancer is right when it comes to VP strategy.  The only thing about VP I believe we disagree on is he believes overall positive odds are essential to winning long term.  I do not.   He also doesn't believe in luck and I do.   He may disagree with my statement, so be it.Here is another Royal Flush I hit today in Tampa.  This makes four royals since I changed strategy in January.  7/5 Bonus Poker (98%) is the best quarter game this casino offers.   Cashing out at $50 doesn't affect your results.  It lets you keep closer track of your money and tells you when it's time to leave.  This is helpful to a Recreational player. All the VP games I play are negative.  I reduce my potential losses by playing quarters.  Even if I could play positive games, I would still play quarters.  I don't need to risk anything bigger to enjoy the game.

Congratulations. Still learning the hard way to play 98% hands quarters. I did hit a max quad, but lost 1.8 quads worth for another triple digit loss.

VP reminds me of a fishing story I heard years ago.  A young fisherman asked an old timer what the secret was to catching a lot of fish?  The old timer said "Go early and stay late!".  To hit a lot of royals you must play a lot of hands.   To keep your head above water, you have to play a game at a denomination that allows you to do this.  Every time you hit the deal button you are counting down from the number of hands it takes to hit a royal.  40,000, 39,999, 39,998, 39,997...   If you run out of money before you get to the number one, you lose.

I did have $2,780 coin in. I must switch casinos. The quarter JOB Progressive is a reverse ATM whenever not awarding RFs. My move to dollar has only heightened the losses. I'll be running for Borgata when I come to town. That's my best remedy.

Thanks Ted.Royals happen, just not always when they are supposed to.   I only had two last year and I screwed up both of them.  I jumped all over the casino, switched denominations on a whim, changed games and hit the wrong hands on the wrong game, failed to check the pay table and played above my bankroll.   All this happened while my wife played 98% quarter deuces wild and kicked by butt.  I may not be so lucky in the future, but it won't be my fault.

I'll have to go where the action is and I can play a good long time on my denomination of choice, without that pesky useless Progressive feature. I've come to despise it.

It's great coming right before our week long trip to AC.  We'll see how that goes.  I'm going to need another royal.  Hope they haven't taken them all out of the machines in AC.  (just kidding)

Right around 200,000 RF free hands this year. Sick and disgusted. Time to make extensive local weekend plans.
