Golden Nugget: the "Cycle" plus dream come true

Post by Lucky Larry »

With the impending birth of our first great-granddaughter (which will limit our trips) and a “special double weekly free play” offer for Friday only we took a Friday night trip to Coushatta. If you have read my previous posts the runs have been really good and bad – no middle ground lately. So after a tough 3-4 trips cold spell we were down substantially in our “G account”. The double free play and our normal $400-500 bankroll were deleted before midnight.

Getting up Saturday we decided to stop by the Golden Nugget and play a combined $500 from our now dwindling bankroll. We arrived around 2:15 and found two open All Stars.

I can only say the next few hours were almost a “video poker player’s biggest dream” – an “almost an “out-of-body” experience. I have been truly blessed since my play began in 2006 – thus the moniker – “Lucky Larry”.   From hitting my first royal on my VP second trip (and becoming hooked immediately on VP) to being dealt multiple hand royals almost a dozen times, and having numerous VP premonitions and dreams that end up coming true, this trip was amazing.

Sweet C and I refer to the “Hitting the Cycle” as the major VP hits –Deuces, Deuces/Ace, Aces/K, and RF. So here is the story of April 14 all from one machine in one setting.

We arrive around 1:45 at Golden Nugget Lake Charles. Times are based on the photo time stamp.

Playing DWB the hits and good hands keep coming so I switched from 25¢ to 50¢.

2:26
(5 hand 50¢ DWB) I’m dealt 3 deuces and catch the fourth deuce. ($500)

2:35
(5 hand 50¢ DWB) I’m dealt 2 deuces again with an Ace. Catch the third and fourth deuce for $1,000.
Picture of the ticket since I forgot to take the picture.

2:50
(5 hand 50¢ DDB) I get a strong premonition to move to DDB, which I play maybe 10% of the time. 5 or 6 hands in, I’m dealt two consecutive hands with two Aces, around the 10th hand I catch 3 Aces.   I close my eyes and pause waiting for the moment to hit re-deal. When I opened my eyes the 4 Aces/4 were on the bottom re-deal line, then on line 3 the 4 Aces. ($1,422.50 hand pay)

3:16
(5 hand 50¢ DWB) I’m dealt 3 deuces and an Ace. I catch the fourth deuce. ($1,000)

4:30
(10 hand 25¢ DWB) I’m dealt 4 RF and catch the Q on the 10th hand. The CYCLE!

Oh, but the story continues…
4:38
(5 hand 50¢ DWB) I’m dealt 2 deuces and catch the other 2 deuces.

So starving since we didn't eat lunch due to the drive to Golden Nugget, we ate dinner. After waiting 45 minutes and then eating, the exhaustion hit. Around 7:30 we head to the car. We literally open the doors and then we dither, debate, discuss resting in the car for an hour and decide to go back in to continue playing. Unfortunately, our favorite All Stars are taken. One opens up and…

8:14
(5 hand 50¢ DWB) I hold 2 deuces and catch 4 deuces. However, the machine was a horrible machine to play. You could only change games if you removed your card, the ticket, changed games and then reinserted your ticket, your card and then hit draw. On top of that the buttons frequently stuck. I finally gave it up. So we randomly played other VP machines just throwing money away.

Around 9:30 two All Stars come open.   We both agree to play just $300 more and then go home. Sweet C is sitting two machines from me when the Casino Public Address announces the 10:00 winner of $2,000 in free play – yep! I have 5 minutes to go claim my $2,000 in free play. Ironically, our daughter had gotten drawn for $2K last week. Unfortunately, our free play had to be on regular slots and we ended up with about $1,000 in tickets. At 1:00 am we decide to head home exhausted. We finally, decided to call Coushatta for a room (40 minutes away) versus home 2 hours away.

Sunday Addendum:
OK, so on the way home the I-10 traffic at the La/Tex line is backing up due to construction so…. you got it, a quick stop at the Golden Nugget.

3:52
(5 hand 50¢ DWB) I’m dealt 2 deuces and hit 4 deuces again.

3:57
(5 hand 50¢ DWB) I’m dealt 4RF and catch the needed “J” for a $2,000 hand pay.

4:29 A strong premonition hits – “Go to Spin”, “Go to Spin”, so off to Spin I go.

(25¢ Spin DWB) I’m dealt 3 Deuces and catch the 4th deuce on 3 hands.

4:58
Sweet C calls to me (2 machines away). She says, “You know when you play for two straight days and hit nothing the odds are that something will finally come your way” She just grins.
(3 hand 25¢/DWB) She has been dealt 4 deuces for the second time in a week and cashes out $1,000.

We play about another hour throwing money away since our timing is off and head home and miss the construction delay.

At least the hits will help pay Uncle Sam.

A special thanks to the poster wildman49 who gave advice on posting pictures. I think i got them all in order.. .

Best Wishes to all....

Unhhh......I'm worn out just reading this avalanche of hits!   Un-flippin-believable!   You received almost an entire years worth of big hits (for some players) over less than 2 days.....I can only surmise the birth of your newest family member somehow brought you blessings of a different sort, so congrats on both ends of the spectrum! Can you possibly describe, in a different post obviously, when you feel up to it, just exactly how these "premonitions" of yours actually manifest themselves?   Your level of certainty in describing them has me more than a bit curious, plus in your case obviously there is something to them!I think your great=granddaughter should be named "Goldie" (Or "GiNNy") in reference to the Golden Nugget.

My premonitions have run in our family. My mom was tremendously psychic. From an early age I remember her ability to foresee events. Unlike my brothers, I have always tried to not only accept this ability but focus on being sensitive to the feelings when they occur. Sometimes, these foretelling come in dream form, often the same repetitive dream over and over weeks or months off and on. When I was younger I didn't quite understand the significance. As I learned to accept the dreams and the strong premonitions it seems they have become clearer. These may come at any time. For example, several years ago Sweet C and I were coming home late one night from a night out. I typically drive on the inside fast lane especially on this particular divided freeway. As I came around a curve, a strong premonition hit to immediately move to an outside lane. Less than 10 seconds later around the curve came a drunk driver on our side of the divided highway in the lane I had just left. A quarter of a mile behind us he hit a car head-on in the inside lane and killed the people in the other car.

It does appear that the premonitions occur more often when my mind/subconscious is tired/or clear. How often do they come? Often when we are playing I may get 10-15-20 a night. For example, I often call hands before they occur. It is not uncommon for me to tell Sweet C a hand she or I am going to be dealt on the trip to the casino or hours before and sometimes its just minutes before it hits. Frequently, I can be dealt and hand and tell what will hit. Calling Royals, big hits, etc is a common occurrence. Sweet C has over the years learned to accommodate my premonitions and now accepts them with great support.

For what it is worth, I think the mind has incredible powers that most of us have never learned to harness. I still haven't. Think for example of the psychic bond between identical twins, siblings, family members and even couples who are "connected".   There are obviously something to these connections.

Every players dream is right. You should now buy a lottery ticket.

Congrats Larry

We don't play the lottery - the odds are lousy.

Congrats to both you and Sweet C Double L, as you both had a heck of a run. Toss in congrats to your daughter for her name being drawn in the give away too.

Best of luck to you all.

Ted, the Golden Nugget LC has tremendous drawings most weekends. This weekend it was $2,000 every 15 minutes from 11 am until midnight.   Additionally, the top 2 tier players (Millionaire and Billionaire - coin played/year) had 5 names drawn from each tier and from that pool 1 player received a new BMW or a Mercedes.

Our daughter Carrie has been drawn multiple times including one night her name was drawn for a total of $10K in free play. She was remarkably called 3 times for $2K and then the midnight draw of $4K. She had only 7 days to play the money and she was headed out on a cruise six days from the draw. The key is the more points you rack up the more entries you earn and she may play 7-8 hours straight on the slots/VP.   Since Sweet C and I were both playing on my cards ( to build our tier points) the entries were really building up over the afternoon and evening.
