To me, Bob Dancer's posts disagree with the idea that the house "theo" is based solely on the long term game return.
Yes, the house theo is whatever the house assigns it to be. APs such as Bob seek out big mismatches between assigned and actual.
He indicates, for example, that some casinos have different "theos" for different denominations.
I may have misinterpreted, but I thought he was suggesting they assign better theo to single line than multi. I believe he was specifically referring to Caesars.

He stated that usually the theoretical on a $5 game is higher than a $1 five play game. I guess you can interpret it either way - is it the denomination, or the multilines, that makes the difference?
Yes, and I'm sure you can find it one way at one place, and the other way at another place.
Marketing algorithms can be complex. I recall reading about one casino group that would send big teaser offers to new players after one significant session at high-limit denoms. I think they were playing something like 98.5 to 99% vp.
An established player at those games wouldn't receive anything extraordinary, but newbies got special treatment. You can imagine how something like this could be exploited.
True, and Bob has stated on the GWAE show that often a higher theo is assigned to carnival games like Ultimate X which are more challenging to play properly (over the mathematical house edge based on perfect play), whereas people who choose Jacks or Better are calculated to play exactly the house edge since JOB has an easier strategy and less likely to bust out.
As for multi line vs single line, single line at $25 a spin is much more volatile than the same amount in five or ten play. But it is all casino dependent. The one I mention seems to comp all VP similarly, from 8/5 DDB STP to NSUD. The one a few exits down clearly varies comps based on game selection, so the 8/5 DDB STP player will get lots more back end comps than me playing 9/6 BPD and NSUD.
